About Job
This is a volunteer opportunity provided by Taproot Foundation, a nonprofit creating social change through pro bono connections.
We are seeking compassionate and skilled volunteers to provide short-term in-house counseling for women in Zambia. In this role, you will offer emotional support, guidance, and coping strategies to women facing personal or social challenges, such as grief. Volunteers should have experience in counseling, social work, or psychology, and a strong commitment to fostering well-being. This position is ideal for those passionate about mental health advocacy and women's empowerment. We anticipate the volunteer will devote 1 hour a week over the course of 3-4 months. At our dynamic nonprofit in southern Zambia, we're transforming lives by providing women's farming cooperatives with solar-powered irrigation systems. This helps them earn money from their farm, despite drought. This exciting opportunity as counselor / wellness coach indirectly supports our communities because you are strengthening The Harvest Fund's staff, the people who train our farmers and communities. With your guidance, our staff can be better positioned to make impact. We've enjoyed working with numerous Taproot Plus volunteers, and we wholeheartedly appreciate your generosity. We value your time and commitment and promise to respond to your emails or messages within 24-48 hours. Our small but agile team makes quick decisions, ensuring our projects stay on track and thrive! The volunteer will primarily communicate with our team through WhatsApp or Google Meet. In Zambia, mental health is still not widely understood. However, our team is ready and eager to work with the volunteer. The volunteer will provide an unprecedented service in a community that truly needs it.
The Harvest Fund Mission: The Harvest Fund's vision is to be an enterprise that builds the agricultural economy while eradicating poverty and promoting environmental sustainability. Our mission is to improve the livelihoods of Zambian female farming cooperatives. In Zambia and similar countries, women are the backbone of agriculture yet toil away with their bare hands and feet and basic tools. The Harvest Fund creates a profitable half-hectare vegetable plot for each of its 10+ cooperatives that is watered year-round with a solar-powered irrigation system. We provide seed, fertilizer, and regenerative agriculture training to make these women farmers more productive and permanently escape poverty.
