About Job

Position Overview

The Department of Psychological Science at Boise State University invites interested applicants to apply for the position of Assistant Professor of Psychology starting in Fall 2026. We're seeking a dynamic colleague with an active research program, or clear potential to develop one, who will genuinely engage our undergraduate students and teach in the areas of research methods, statistical methods, and/or advanced statistics and measurement. Applicants who would also be excited to teach cognitive psychology, perception, neuroscience, biological bases, and/or learning, secondary to the previously mentioned courses, are also encouraged to apply. Candidates should have an active research program (with the area of specialty open) that can produce at least three peer-reviewed publications (at least 1 first-author) within the five years preceding their application for tenure. The successful candidate will also participate in service activities (e.g., committee assignments) that benefit the Department, College of Arts and Sciences, University, as well as the local community, state, region, and discipline.

The successful candidate will join a department dedicated to curriculum and pedagogy that is responsive to the students it serves. The successful candidate will be able to engage all students in the classroom using evidence-based and inclusive teaching practices. The standard teaching load is 1-3 courses per semester, depending on class size, with possible adjustment for service activities or work on externally funded research projects; a typical load is similar to a 2-2 with roughly 100-120 students per semester. Flexibility in course modality and scheduling is available. This is a nine-month academic year tenure track position, with opportunities for salary enhancement through summer teaching or work on externally funded research projects.
