Community Liaison will play a vital role in building and strengthening relationships between ACS, community partners, and other key stakeholders. This position is responsible for leading outreach efforts to engage the community, increase program referrals, and promote awareness of available services. The Community Liaison will also provide education and advocacy to ensure families, especially those from underserved populations to understand their rights and responsibilities within the child welfare system. A key focus of this role is fostering cultural competence and inclusivity in all interactions and programming.

To provide case management services for families affected by parental and/or child mental health and/or substance abuse, trauma, or intimate partner violence issues that place the family at risk of foster care placement within our FSS and FTR programs.

Duties And Responsibilities
Community Liaison
- Participates and conducts community outreach events.
- Build partnerships/relationships with external providers among other communities.
- Attends and presents the agency at community meetings and other events.
- Works collaboratively with internal and external programs and departments for referrals.
- Attends all required training to enhance skills working with high-risk population.
- Completes other assignments as needed or designated by the Sr. Program Director
- Develop PowerPoint presentations and communication that will be distributed and communicated to services providers and families on Staten Island.
- Participates in weekly supervision meetings with a structured agenda to discuss referrals and barriers.
- Provides case planning, assessments, crisis intervention, goal setting, and counseling services for families with children at risk of foster care placement.
- Conducts comprehensive family assessments within 30 days of intake and update them every six months.
- Delivers crisis intervention and counseling services to children, teens, individuals, and families.
- Collaborates with case aides to support families in accessing resources, advocacy services, and additional assistance.
- Maintains accurate and up-to-date documentation, including mandated tracking logs, case records, and electronic databases, in a timely manner.
- Completes all required program documentation, such as progress notes, family assessments, Family Assessment Service Plans (FASPs), and other reports.
- Assists individuals and families in developing service plans focused on safety, stabilization, substance use, mental health, and domestic violence through a harm reduction approach.
Skills, Knowledge, Abilities:
- Ability to use communication skills that successfully convey and obtain accurate and complete information in a respectful caring manner.
- Demonstrates the ability to organize and coordinate work within schedule constraints and manage emergent issues/concerns in a timely manner.
- Ability to communicate effectively with supervisors, co-workers, and other community partners.
- Ability to conduct interviews with families to obtain and provide information needed to fulfill case management responsibilities.
- Knowledge and ability to use critical thinking and analytical skills used to formulate with the family person achievable plans for implementation.
- The ability to perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Demonstrates cultural sensitivity and competence in work with families from various ethnic and cultural groups, social economic status, and lifestyles.
- Knowledge skills and ability to adhere to acceptable ethical and behavioral standards of conduct.
- Demonstrates the ability to embrace and align with our agency’s core values, contributing to a cohesive and mission-driven work culture
- Proven adaptability in navigating diverse environments, personality types, and circumstances with professionalism and flexibility.
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- 1- 2 years of social service experience working within child welfare and counseling preferred
- Experience with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, CNNX, PROMIS
- Due to the nature of the work environment work hours will be based on needs of program and may vary.
- Bilingual Preferred Spanish but not required.
- Performs other duties/responsibilities as assigned within the scope of the work.
