About Job
Teller County's Department of Human Services is seeking a full-time Social Caseworker III - Foster Care/Adoption/Kinship Coordinator to recruit, assess, and support foster, adoptive, and kinship care providers. This role ensures compliance with state licensing requirements, prepares home studies and adoption paperwork, and maintains accurate case records. The caseworker also collaborates with agency staff and partners, monitors service plans, supports court processes, and helps ensure safe, stable placements for children in care.
What You'll Do:
(1) Develop recruitment and retention plans for the program with agency staff, supervisors, and community partners to increase the number of foster and adoption homes.
(2) Prepare and maintain foster/adoption home files. Ensure foster/adoption homes are in compliance with all state regulations for licensed foster/adoption homes, i.e., CPR, home inspections, training, etc.
(3) Prepare and participate in all required audits.
(4) Assess child and youth cases for appropriateness of services and monitor for compliance with court-ordered treatment plans.
(5) Prepare and maintain confidential client records and reports on computerized systems, such as Trails and CBMS; document plans and recommendations; and submit files and records for foster care and court review.
(6) Responsible for adoption paperwork and subsidized adoption cases (initial through renewal).
(7) Prepare Safe home studies for foster care and adoption homes.
(8) Testify in court regarding ongoing cases as necessary; recommend to the court on abuse and/or neglect cases and placement of children.
(9) Provide support to kinship providers by conducting a needs assessment and maintaining regular contact with kinship providers.
(10) Work with assigned caseworkers to ensure that kinship homes are appropriate and have met all requirements to be kinship providers.

Skilled in: computer/data entry to access and complete County, State and Federal case file requirements.
Ability to: communicate effectively in writing and verbally; establish and maintain effective and professional working relationships with co-workers, other county departments, representatives of other agencies and organizations, clients and the public; assess the dynamics of parent/child conflict and the safety of the children; assess statutory obligations in applicable situations; follow established procedures and protocols in Child Abuse/Neglect cases and foster/adoption home regulations; prepare accurate records and reports; effectively serve as a member of a team; establish rapport with multi-problem, dysfunctional clients; establish partnerships to develop and maintain community resources; quickly and independently arrive at logical, sound conclusions and decisions; effectively recruit and retain foster/adoption homes; engage and support foster parents and kinship providers; maintain adequate records and to prepare reports and correspondence in accordance with County, State and Federal regulations
Additional Details About the Role:
Visual Acuity/Hearing/Speaking: Must be able to write and read; able to hear, see and speak.
Physical Effort/Dexterity: This position works in an office setting with daily routine computer usage; requires the ability to drive a vehicle; light physical exertion and the normal range of motion and dexterity; ability to sit (sometimes for extended periods of time), stand, stoop, kneel, crouch, bend, crawl or climb; ability to lift, pull or drag up to 25 lbs. for short periods of time.
Environmental Factors: Work is generally performed in an office setting, peoples' homes and outside agencies; occasional local travel is required.
Work Schedule/Characteristics: 40 hours per week; availability outside normal business hours to include on call as needed.
License/Certification Requirements: Possession of and ability to maintain a valid Colorado driver's license; successful completion of Colorado Child Welfare Training Academy; ability to pass all background checks (CBI etc.) and ability to pass a drug test.
Compensation and Benefits:
Salary range : $58,465.00 - $61,388.00 / annually
Status : Full-time, Exempt
Location : Woodland Park, on site

- Bachelor's degree in the field of social work or human behavioral science.
- Minimum of two (2) years of related professional caseworker experience.
- Master's degree in Social Work is preferred.
- Any acceptable combination of education, training and experience that provides the listed knowledge, skills and abilities may be substituted.
