About Job

This role will support UTHealth Houston's Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences' HOMES program. Project HOMES partners with recovery homes across Texas to support fully-funded communities where individuals using medication-assisted treatment (MAT) for opioid and other addictions can build personalized paths to recovery. We focus on medically-assisted recovery (MAR), advocating for inclusive support systems that challenge common myths and stigma, and ensure people using medication are not excluded from the recovery community.

Position Summary:

Interviews research subjects, primarily in the field, collects data and records data for various health studies.

Position Key Accountabilities:
  • Interviews and established rapport with study participants in order to encourage complete accurate responses and continuing participation in the study. Works in the field.
  • Contacts study participants to schedule interviews and screens with ongoing assessments for the research study.
  • Decides methods of tracking participants, how to conduct interviews, and whether callbacks are necessary to get further information while coding.
  • Monitors intake records, hospital records, HMIS, and all other available resources to obtain names, addresses, phone numbers and other information about study participants.
  • Conducts intervention with research subjects and refers to appropriate mental health providers, physician/healthcare practitioner, or social services as outlined in the study policies, procedures, and protocols.
  • Schedules intake assessments, psychiatric appointments, and physicals as outlined in the study policies, procedures, and protocols.
  • Learns motivational interviewing to support treatment engagement and medication adherence
  • Codes and edits information for research projects for entry into database.
  • Handles administrative details such as reviewing records, and mileage reports.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Certification/Skills:

Bilingual - Spanish/English preferred

Good communication skills, both written and verbal

Prior training in community health, chronic illnesses and patient engagement strategies preferred.

Minimum Education:

High School Diploma or equivalent required

Minimum Experience:

None

Physical Requirements:

Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects.

Residency Requirement:

Employees must permanently reside and work in the State of Texas.
