Job Description
SUMMARY OF POSITION
This is a hybrid position providing crisis counseling to individuals effected by a natural disaster in their community. Under the administrative and clinical supervision of the Team Lead, Crisis Counseling Program-Tennessee Recovery Project, the Crisis Counselor is responsible for providing resource connection, short term supportive counseling, long term counseling referrals and coping advice for those individuals who are experiencing a mental health crisis related to a natural disaster area.
This is a weekday and weekend position. This position is temporary. The role will serve the counties of Cheatham, Dickson, Davidson and Montgomery. Must be willing to travel to those counties as assigned
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
Education Level
High school diploma or GED required. Bachelor's degree in a related field of Behavioral Science, Psychology, Social Work, or related field or Certified Peer Recovery Specialist preferred.
Years Of Experience
Experience as a Mental Health Counselor providing clinical screenings, crisis intervention services, or conducting clinical intake assessments preferred.
Certification/Licensure
Valid driver's license is required.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Demonstrate high level of clinical knowledge and skill in providing telephonic or in-person screenings, risk assessments, resource linkage, and crisis intervention to callers.
- Meet the ethical and clinical standards in compliance with all accreditation.
- Attend team meetings, in-service training, supervision, and other quality assurance training.
- Demonstrate high-level customer service skills and professional etiquette.
- Demonstrate knowledge and competency in providing service linkage and referrals for programs, services, and other community resources.
- Promote a departmental culture of cooperation and collaboration with other cross-functional departments, community agencies, hospitals, mental health consumers, and the public at large.
- Assist in administrative tasks as needed.
