Scion Staffing has been engaged to conduct a search for a Patient Billing & Intake Specialist for a fast-growing, mission-driven AI health technology startup. This is a full-time, temporary-to-hire (TTH) opportunity. The role is fully remote (U.S.-based), with a strong preference for candidates able to work onsite in San Francisco, CA.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and process-driven Medical Billing Coordinator to manage the complete workflow for biologic and specialty therapies in an outpatient setting. This position plays a vital role in intake, benefits verification (BV), prior authorization (PA), medical policy review (MPR), and support for billing and revenue cycle operations using a proprietary platform. RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Triage and process new patient referrals for biologic and specialty therapies
• Conduct benefits verification and assess payer-specific coverage criteria
• Submit and track prior authorizations, including managing appeals and escalations
• Apply payer medical policy requirements and ensure documentation accuracy
• Coordinate with clinical and billing teams to support clean claims and reimbursement
• Manage workflows using a custom-built care coordination platform

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Experience with intake, BV, PA, MPR, and/or billing in outpatient care settings (e.g., infusion centers, clinics, ambulatory care)
• Prior experience with biologics or specialty therapies is HIGHLY preferred
• Strong organizational, communication, and follow-through skills
• Experience managing the end-to-end workflow for specialty and biologic therapies in an outpatient setting
• Comfortable navigating digital tools and new healthcare platforms

COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:

This position offers an hourly wage of $40-44/hr, depending on geographic location, and experience, in addition to medical, dental, vision, voluntary life insurance, an employee assistant plan (EAP) and an employee retirement plan.
