Job Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Psychiatric Technician to join our team in providing high-quality care to individuals with mental health challenges. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of behavioral health practices and the ability to work effectively with patients in a variety of settings, including corrections facility medical clinics. This role is crucial in supporting psychiatric care and ensuring the safety and well-being of patients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide basic behavioral and psychiatric nursing care to mentally or developmentally disabled patients/youth
- Conduct daily clinical rounds and monitor patients for signs and symptoms of mental illness
- Administer medications and treatments, including hypodermic injections, under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Medical Doctor (MD)
- Take and chart vital signs such as temperature, pulse, blood pressure, and respiration
- Collaborate with other disciplines as part of the Treatment Team to develop treatment plans and objectives
- Assist in the development and provision of group and individual therapy regimens
- Coordinate clinical appointments and ensure patient attendance
- Provide first responder duties, including CPR and first aid as needed
- Maintain accurate documentation as required by the facility
- Help create a safe, secure, and therapeutic environment for patients/youth.
Qualifications:
- Valid and active California Psychiatric Technician license
- Minimum 3+ years of experience as Licensed Psychiatric Technician is required.
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association
- Familiarity with medical terminology
- Ability to build rapport with patients and a compassionate demeanor
- Strong communication skills.
