Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
- Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of current federal and state special education laws and local guidelines.
- Ability to identify at-risk students and develop research based academic and behavioral interventions in the least restrictive environment.
- Ability to administer full psychological/academic/social-emotional evaluations for students aged 5 to 26 years.
- Demonstrate general knowledge of disability areas in special education with specific knowledge in CI, EI, and ASD.
- Ability to successfully collaborate with staff and implement District Initiatives.
- Coordinate and/or participate in the Multidisciplinary Team Evaluation/Individual Educational Planning (IEP) team meeting and Wrap-Around process.
- Complete psych-educational assessments to assist in the determination of special education eligibility with an understanding of the IEP Process and the ability to develop IEPs, Multidisciplinary Team Reports, and Evaluation Review Reports.
- Ability to provide crisis prevention, intervention, brief and situational psychotherapy
- Ability to provide professional development to schools in order to update them on special education laws and best practice strategies to improve student achievement.
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
- Professional consultation with students, parents, and staff
- Working knowledge of basic technological, proficiency in software related to Special Education and Psychological Services.
- Attend meetings and professional development activities as required.
- Perform other job-related responsibilities as assigned by the Principal.
Qualifications:
- Must possess a valid State of Michigan School Psychologist Certification.
- Able to build a good relationship with students.
- Able to collaborate with administration and staff.
- Able to communicate effectively with staff, students, families, and physicians.
- Able to assume a leadership role in health-related issues.
- Must be organized and proficient in time management.
Terms of Employment:
This position is covered under the Wyandotte Education Association master agreement. Salary and benefits are as provided under the master agreement.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $45,900.00 - $104,280.00 per year
