A school-based social worker role is available in Detroit, MI, serving middle school students for the upcoming school year on a contract basis. This position focuses on supporting general education students by addressing personal and psychological challenges that impact their academic performance, behavior, and social interactions.
Key responsibilities include:
- Conducting individual and group counseling sessions, developing treatment plans, and facilitating workshops.
- Designing and implementing prevention programs and intervention strategies.
- Collaborating with students to identify areas requiring support or counseling.
- Partnering with teachers and administrators to address behavioral and attitude concerns by uncovering underlying issues affecting students.
- Coordinating with external support services to assist students facing economic, emotional, or physical hardships.
- Communicating with parents, educators, and administration to gain a comprehensive understanding of student challenges.
- Maintaining detailed case files and progress reports.
- Assisting students and families affected by abuse, violence, hunger, or homelessness by connecting them to community resources such as shelters, food banks, and medical services.
Qualifications required:
- Bachelors or Masters Degree in Social Work.
- 310 Social Worker Endorsement.
