Job Overview
NextStep Behavioral Services is seeking a dedicated and compassionate School-Based Behavior Technician to join our team. In this role, you will work directly with students with developmental disabilities, including those on the autism spectrum, within school settings. Under the supervision of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), you will implement behavior intervention strategies aligned with students’ IEP goals and support their academic, social, and behavioral development throughout the school day. This position requires a strong commitment to supporting student success, collaboration with educational teams, and accurate data collection to guide interventions.
Responsibilities
- Implement individualized behavior intervention plans (BIPs) and skill acquisition programs developed by the supervising BCBA.
- Provide one-on-one and small group behavioral support to students within classrooms, therapy rooms, and other school environments.
- Collect and record data on student behavior, skill development, and response to interventions throughout the school day.
- Support students during transitions, academic instruction, and social interactions to promote independence and engagement.
- Collaborate with teachers, school staff, related service providers, and families to ensure consistent implementation of behavior strategies.
- Maintain accurate and confidential documentation in accordance with FERPA and school district guidelines.
- Participate in team meetings, supervision sessions, and ongoing professional development related to ABA and school-based behavior supports.
Skills
- Understanding of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) principles and behavioral intervention techniques.
- Experience working with school-aged children, particularly those with autism or related developmental disabilities.
- Proficiency in collecting, charting, and analyzing behavioral data.
- Ability to follow structured routines and behavior plans consistently across settings.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills for effective collaboration with school personnel and families.
- Patience, flexibility, and a compassionate approach to working with diverse student populations.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; relevant training or RBT certification preferred.
- Must pass all required background checks and meet district onboarding requirements.

Pay: $25.00 - $35.00 per hour
