GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:

Provide a safe, secure and supportive environment for youth at Parrott Creek. Supervise youth during group times, free time and recreational activities. Provide case management for all youth in the residential program.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES:

  • Supervise youth in the milieu during lunch and breaks
  • Provide activities and organization for days youth are not in school
  • Complete ASAM assessments and develop SUD treatment plans
  • Provide SUD counseling and case management for youth
  • Work with mental health therapist to assist with co-occurring treatment for the youth when appropriate
  • Manage the youth’s medical needs, arrange transportation for doctor, hospital visits if necessary
  • Connect youth and families with communal resources and facilitate connections
  • Daily support youth in recovery school and collaborate with the school to develop recovery plans and additional support
  • Arrange visits working cooperatively with the youth’s therapist and family/guardians
  • Help facilitate special recovery activities and outings such as a garden project, music project or comic book group.
  • Train staff, interns and volunteers
  • Monitor the youth’s allowance and budgeting
  • Track the youth’s restitution (if necessary) and ensure it is paid on a regular quarterly basis
  • Manage youth’s clothing inventory and clothing needs
  • Help with scheduling for breaks
  • Help facilitate special programs such as the garden project, music project or comic book group. Assign staff to these projects when appropriate
  • Answer phones and greet people as they arrive at the program.
  • Communicate with community partners

REQUIREMENTS, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Willingness to embrace, adhere to and implement Parrott Creek’s values in all aspects of work.
  • Applicant must be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Have the ability stand for long periods
  • Supportive of diverse lifestyles and cultures.
  • Ability to lift 35 pounds
  • Computer literate
  • Ability to work over uneven terrain
  • Ability to pass a DHS background and fingerprint check
  • Work cooperatively within a team
  • Have a valid Oregon Driver’s License and good driving record
  • Be able to drive a 12-seat passenger van.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & TRAINING:

Bachelor’s Degree in a related field and experience in youth care is preferred.

CADC-I or above preferred, will consider applicants with a CADC-R if they have experience in the field

Experience working with/in BIPOC communities.

Understanding of and commitment to mindfulness practice.

Understanding of and commitment to anti-racism.

Supportive of diverse lifestyles and cultures.

Training or experience with Restorative Justice programs and practices.

Bi-lingual preferred.

First Aid and CPR certification and a Food Handlers card are required.

A current First Aid and CPR certification and Food Handler’s card are required.

Duties are performed in office, residential and community settings.

This position is hourly and non-exempt.

This position is considered essential for severe weather related attendance.
