Key Responsibilities
Direct Service:
- Provide mental health/level of care assessments and diagnoses for adults seeking Residential services.
- Consults regularly with Residential staff to ensure clients meet criteria for safe admission to appropriate level of treatment.
- Provides crisis intervention and referrals to high-level of care as necessary.
- Go to co-located sobering center site, as needed, to perform mental health/level of care assessments with clients seeking residential treatment upon release.
- Facilitates group sessions focused on substance use recovery, trauma recovery, co-occurring mental health symptoms, and other personal change topics.
- Provide thorough written documentation of all services provided in compliance with regulations, contracts, and behavioral health standards.
- Persists in efforts to solve issues even when faced with internal barriers; takes personal responsibility for customer service outcomes.
- Attends regular supervision, training, meetings, and events related to furthering professional development.
- Write and complete all progress notes within 72 hoursof service delivery.
- Maintains compliance with due dates for all clinical documentation.
- Writes client progress letters and court reports and obtains final approval from the supervisor.
- Documentation must maintain in compliance with agency policy and procedures, HIPAA, 42-CFR, DMH, and SAPC standards.
- Completes all assigned URCs within a timely matter.
- Maintains full compliance with CCAPP or CADTP requirements for registration and certification.
- Attends and actively participates in assigned Clinical Group Supervision.
- Completes all assigned training and Relias trainings in a timely manner.
- Transports clients as needed.
- Completes client UA tests and documents test results.
Qualifications
Education, Certification, and Experience
- Registered or certified AOD counselor from an accredited agency.
- Minimum two years of experience in dual diagnosis substance abuse treatment in an inpatient or residential community mental health setting.
- Experience conducting assessments and providing appropriate diagnoses.
- Experience with Mental Health Medi-Cal procedures.
- Has valid driver’s license and able to pass an agency driving test to use agency vehicle for off-site visits.
- Ability to obtain and maintain satisfactory background check.
- Ability to obtain and maintain live scan clearance.
- Must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, including booster shots. Medical or religious exceptions are not available.
- Familiarity with Drug-Medical and ASAM Criteria is a plus.
- Ability to work with a diverse population while withholding judgment.
- Willingly open to learn and understanding different perspectives.
- Ability to enter data into various electronic systems while maintaining integrity and accuracy of data.
- Ability to handle sensitive information in a confidential manner.
- Demonstrated clinical paperwork, timely record keeping abilities and dual entry.
- Fluent/certified bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
