About Job

This is a part-time direct service position in a Madison-area Residential Services Program. AODA programming must be delivered secularly free of religious components, following the agency-prescribed curriculum.

The person in this position is responsible for providing group AODA treatment, Co-Occurring Disorders interventions, Anger Management groups, Healthy Relationships groups, Trauma-Informed Care (Seeking Safety group), and individual AODA treatment to adult correctional clients who are enrolled in the ACS Residential Services Program. This person will also directly supervise the daily mindfulness group activity in collaboration with the program Social Worker. The person in this position is involved with clients in group settings, serving as a facilitator, and providing weekly individual counseling sessions.

The AODA Counselor maintains, and updates client files, writes daily progress notes, develops and updates treatment plans with client input, generates required reports, and creates discharge summaries. The person in this position is responsible for maintaining all AODA credentials.

Duties

Treatment Interventions and Other Programming

  • Facilitate treatment groups utilizing the prescribed curricula. This will include AODA treatment groups, Co-Occurring Disorders interventions, Anger Management groups, Healthy Relationships groups, and Trauma-Informed Care interventions (Seeking Safety group).
  • Evaluate client participation and document their treatment progress in their chart using Progress Notes consistent with DHS standards.
  • Complete ASAM and AODA client assessments consistent with DHS standards.
  • Recommend referrals to other community services/agencies as needed.
  • Maintain ongoing verbal and written communication with all co-workers, including the case manager and supervisor.
  • Develop, periodically review, and update individual client treatment plans in collaboration with each client, consistent with DHS standards.
  • Maintain communication with co-workers and DOC regarding client behaviors, treatment progress, and incident reports.

Record Keeping

  • Ability to follow all Department of Health Services Code 75 about Community Substance Abuse Service Standards.
  • Ability to follow and complete Medicaid paperwork as required for funding.
  • Maintain appropriate documentation as required in relation to group/individual client services per DHS requirements.
  • Complete intake and orientation materials upon the admission of new clients consistent with DHS standards.
  • Maintain client files and adhere to all laws, policies, and rules regarding confidentiality.
  • Maintain appropriate staffing notes consistent with DHS standards, write client file case notes, prepare client reports, and complete discharge/termination summaries promptly.

Other Duties

  • Other tasks as assigned by the Supervisor
  • meeting weekly with Clinical Supervisor
  • Maintain a valid driver’s license, good driving record, and proof of insurance to use the agency vehicle as transportation to other agency locations.
  • Must have AODA Credentials (SAC-IT or higher)
  • Individual NPI number preferred
  • Group facilitation experience with AODA and correctional clients.
  • Corrections experience required, residential or treatment center preferred.
  • Associate degree required. Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Knowledge and use of Motivational Interviewing techniques.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work with clients of diverse backgrounds.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and organizational skills.
  • Ability to perform job duties with limited supervision.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding client and agency records.
  • Must adhere to the Department of Corrections (DOC) Fraternization Policies.
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license and a good driving record.
