Overview

To provide leadership and direction to the Shipping and Receiving department in areas of responsibility including inventory control, shipping, receiving, scheduling, quality, safety and environmental.



Responsibilities

  • Receives incoming freight and enters receiving information into the mainframe to maintain efficient inventory control.
  • Determines work priorities, prepares work schedules and expedites workflow. Assigns duties and examines work for exactness, neatness and conformance to policies and procedures.
  • Collaborates with Home Office managers and supervisors to ensure coordination of special mailings, inventory management and quality assurance.
  • Studies and standardizes procedures to assure the timely, accurate and efficient processing of all shipping and receiving functions.
  • Works with department representatives to analyze shipping needs to determine the best method of shipment (packaging and transportation).
  • Responsible for maintaining and updating all shipping records.
  • Negotiates with shipping vendors and logistics companies to procure the best service and price possible.
  • Performs all duties of the Shipping and Receiving Clerk as needed.
  • Develops and maintains a well-trained staff.
  • Maintains discipline, resolves problems, determines performance and recommends promotions, transfers or dismissals.
  • Performs other duties as requested.

Education and/or Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Three years supervisory experience in shipping/receiving environment.
  • Fluency reading, writing and speaking English.
  • Sharp attention to details.
  • Ability to efficiently work in a team and coordinate work with other departments.
  • Aptitude to take orders and execute the same efficiently.
  • High school degree, diploma or a GED equivalent qualification from an accredited institution.
  • Demonstrated detail orientation, self-motivation skills and ability to multi-task.
  • Strong basic math skills.
  • Previous forklift experience.
  • Exposure to a fast paced Lean manufacturing environment.
