POSITION SUMMARY
The Spiritual Care Manager plays a vital leadership role in the life transformation of men experiencing homelessness by integrating staff supervision, Christian ministry, and trauma-informed care into the daily operations of the homeless emergency shelter. This person serves as both a strong spiritual leader and a staff manager, walking alongside shelter guests in their journey toward healing, stability, and faith while leading a vibrant team of staff members.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Shelter & Staff Management
· Provide daily presence in the shelter as a visible spiritual leader, building trust with guests and staff.
· Supervise a designated team of Shelter Ambassadors and other frontline staff involved in guest care and programming.
· Provide spiritual and professional leadership to shelter staff, modeling Christlike service and ensuring alignment with Philly House’s mission and values.
· Lead and facilitate regular staff meetings, training, and devotional gatherings for shelter staff.
· Participate in the development and enforcement of shelter policies, procedures, and guest care standards.
· Work collaboratively with shelter and facilities teams to ensure the environment is safe, clean, and conducive to spiritual transformation and trauma informed care.
· Monitor daily shelter operations and assist in resolving conflicts or behavioral challenges among guests and staff.
· Maintain professional and ministry boundaries while promoting a Christ-centered culture of care.
Spiritual Care Leadership
· Train, supervise, and support a team of shelter ambassadors, spiritual care volunteers, and interns.
· Design, implement, and oversee all spiritual programming, including daily devotions, Bible studies, prayer gatherings, field trips, and special events.
· Help design and lead trauma-informed faith-based initiatives that complement shelter services and case management goals.
· Develop and curate resources (books, devotionals, videos, etc.) to support spiritual growth among guests and residents.
· Collaborate with shelter and case management teams to identify guests who are open to or seeking spiritual guidance.
· Provide direct spiritual care, crisis counseling, and mentorship to guests and residents.
· Coordinate and manage schedules for all spiritual activities and ensure consistency and excellence in delivery.
· Equip and mentor guests to lead or co-lead spiritual activities, fostering a peer-led ministry environment.
· Collaborate with case managers to ensure integrated, holistic care plans that address spiritual, emotional, and physical needs through trauma-informed approach.
Administrative & Interdepartmental Collaboration
· Maintain accurate records of guest spiritual care needs and interactions using organizational CRM called MissionTracker.
· Collect survey data and evaluate the effectiveness of spiritual programming, making improvements as needed.
· Partner with Homeless Services leadership to integrate spiritual formation into broader organizational objectives.
· Attend leadership and cross-departmental meetings and represent spiritual care in strategic decision-making.

SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES
· Provide backup coverage for shelter operations during staff absences: including intakes, security, and guest engagement as needed.
· Assist in crisis situations and participate in incident de-escalation, upholding trauma-informed care principles.
· Represent Philly House at community or faith-based events to promote our mission and connect with partner churches, as requested.

QUALIFICATIONS
· Bachelor’s degree – or 10+ years ministry experience in similar context.
· Minimum 5 years of experience in Christian ministry, with 3+ years of supervisory or program management experience.
· A mature, public Christian witness with a vibrant relationship with Jesus Christ.
· Passionate about serving the homeless and leading a Christ-centered environment.
· Trauma-informed care training and experience working with vulnerable populations
· Excellent communication, empathy, and conflict-resolution skills
· Competent in working in a multicultural and multi-denominational urban environment.
· Strong leadership, conflict resolution, and team development skills.
· Familiarity with trauma-informed care, mental health, and addiction recovery.
· Technologically proficient (Microsoft Office, Outlook, HMIS or other CRM/databases).
· Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
· Must pass criminal background check, drug test, and sex offender screening.

PHYSICAL & WORK REQUIREMENTS
· Work is solely performed on-site at the emergency shelter facility – no remote work available.
· Ability to navigate a multi-floor facility and lift up to 30 lbs.
· Must be able to respond calmly in high-stress or crisis situations
· Exposure to high-risk individuals; must follow all safety protocols.

COMPENSATION & HOURS
· Full-time, salaried position: $55,000–$70,000 annually (commensurate with experience).
· Health benefits with 100% coverage available after 90 days.
· Automatic 3% contribution to 401K retirement plan after 1 year.
· 4 weeks paid vacation, after 1 year: 1 week personal time off, after 90 days.
· Flexible schedule required, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Pay: $55,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
