Residential Counselor Positions- Hourly Pay Rate is: 1$15.00
1. Monday- Friday- 2pm-10pm and every other Saturday and Sunday 2-10pm-80hrs-FT (evening shift)
2. Friday, Saturday and Sunday, Monday- 2pm-10pm-32hrs-(evening shift) every other week
3. Thursday, Friday & Saturday-10:00pm-8:00am-30hrs-PT-(overnight shift)-every other weekend.
4. Sat. & Sun. 2:00pm-10:00pm-16hrs-PT-(evening shift)-every other weekend
5. Sat. & Sun. 8:00am-3:00pm-14hrs-PT-(morning shift)-every other weekend
6. PRN- Relief Counselor- are required to work (two shifts of your choice) per month at any home.
Summary: A Residential Counselor are responsible for maintaining a safe, supportive, and therapeutic environment which fosters growth and rehabilitation and facilitates the development of the individual’s ability to reach his/her highest level of independence. The coordination of services includes assistance in daily living skills, providing proper meals and nutrition, upkeep/maintenance of the residence, medication management, and transportation for individuals, and excellent customer service.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
The employee must have a high school diploma or equivalent and at least six months to one year of experience working in the Mental Health/Human Services field.
MINIMUM SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of Crisis Intervention
Complete TOVA, First Aid, and CPR, Medication Management, Human Rights/MR Waiver, Emergency Preparedness, Person Centered Thinking.
Knowledge of DBHDS standards.
Ability to be flexible.
Skill pertaining to the individual documentation process.
Skills regarding written and oral communication.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk or hear, or smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The employee must be aware and familiar with his/her surrounding due to some individuals who may exhibit physical aggression, tantrums, property destruction, and throwing items. Due to those behaviors listed, employees must be able to use the company’s behavioral interventions correctly and effectively if an individual with intellectual disabilities is harm to themselves or others.
