ABOUT THE ROLE

As an Inventory Control Specialist at Drexel, you'll be a pivotal member of our team, ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of our inventory operations. We're looking for a detail-oriented individual with a strong commitment to data integrity and process improvement. You'll play a crucial role in maintaining our inventory accuracy, optimizing storage, and supporting our delivery and customer service teams. This position requires a proactive problem-solver with excellent communication skills and a passion for continuous improvement.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Inventory Accuracy & Management:
    • Maintain real-time inventory accuracy through regular cycle counts and meticulous record-keeping.
    • Oversee and implement best practices for receiving, rotating, and loading materials to ensure accurate fulfillment for deliveries and customer purchases.
    • Manage and optimize storage spaces based on established minimum and maximum levels.
    • Conduct routine yard walks with relevant team members to verify special order items.
    • Maintain a clean Special Order (S.O.) and Negative on Hand report.
    • Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies, identifying root causes to implement permanent solutions.
  • Data & Reporting:
    • Accurately perform data entry and maintain detailed inventory records.
    • Prepare and comprehend various reports and invoices related to inventory.
  • Collaboration & Communication:
    • Effectively communicate product changes and inventory status to relevant departments and team members.
    • Collaborate with multiple departments to achieve inventory and operational goals.
    • Provide clear and effective communication, both one-on-one and in group settings.
  • Operational Support:
    • Assist with yard operations as needed, including loading lumber and other building materials for customers.
    • Utilize equipment such as forklifts, dollies, and other devices to move materials to and from vendor vehicles, storage, and work sites.
    • Potentially assist with deliveries; a clean driving record is required (CDL preferred but not essential).
  • Training & Development:
    • As you grow in this role, you will have opportunities to assist in training and motivating new team members.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Skills:
    • Exceptional attention to detail and a strong commitment to accuracy.
    • Excellent computer proficiency and administrative skills.
    • Strong mathematical aptitude.
    • Ability to work independently and maintain focus in a fast-paced environment.
    • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills.
    • Ability to hold team members accountable and foster a culture of inventory responsibility.
    • Proactive problem-solving abilities with a "fix it forever" mindset.
    • Open-mindedness and enthusiasm for process improvement and change.
  • Physical Requirements:
    • Ability to perform duties of yard operations, which may include lifting and moving heavy materials.
    • Experience operating a forklift and other material handling equipment is a plus.
  • Other:
    • A clean driving record is required; CDL is preferred but not required.
