Title: Mold Technician
Department: Maintenance 5000

Reports to: Maintenance Supervisor

FLSA Status: Hourly Non-exempt


Position Summary

Perform work utilizing hand and power tools and mechanical skills to keep molds in repair. Duties involve repairing, installing, aligning, and testing molds to meet production requirements. Assist Maintenance Technicians in Preventative Maintenance, Equipment Repair and completing projects.


Primary Functions


Use of hand and power tools, such as hammers, hoists, saws, drills, and wrenches to perform regular job duties.

· Responsible for mold changes & auxiliary/set up functions in assigned area.

· Load and position tools into presses and perform changeovers.

· Clean and store molds properly.

· Mold and machine maintenance skills.

· Crane operation.

· Inspect molds for defects.

· Perform preventive maintenance on molds before installing.

· Complete change over sheets after completion of each mold change. Maintain any necessary documentation.

· Responsible for meeting tight deadlines, the average mold change time to be held at 60 minutes.

· Strong attention to detail.

· Must be able to work the assigned overtime to cover the functions of this position as assigned.

· Must be able to work safely and always consider the safety of others in the workplace.

· Must assure that all personnel involved in the actual machine set up are following the company Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) program.

· Responsible for housekeeping of work area.

· Perform other related duties as assigned.


Education and Experience

Education

High School Diploma or GED Equivalent


Experience/Knowledge


· Strong mechanical ability.

· Proven and/or demonstrated communication skills.

· Successful interaction in a cross-functional team environment.

· Must possess the ability to learn and retain.

· Must be able to solve problems and think on the go.

· Good reading, writing and math skills.

· Ability to safely operate a forktruck.


Technical Role Competencies


· Repairing — Repairing and changing molds using the needed tools.

· Equipment Maintenance — Performing routine maintenance on molds and determining when and what kind of maintenance is needed. Bringing machines back to “Ready to run part” status after mold change.

· Troubleshooting — Determining causes of operating errors and deciding what to do about it.

· Critical Thinking — Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.

· Equipment Selection — Determining the kind of tools and equipment needed to do a job.

· Operation Monitoring — Watching gauges, dials, or other indicators to make sure a machine is working properly.

· Quality Control Analysis — Conducting tests and inspections of products, services, or processes to evaluate quality or performance.

· Reading Comprehension — Understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work related documents

Environment: Normal manufacturing environments; work with machinery and media in or around confined spaces; exposure to chemicals, grease and oils.

Physical: Sufficient physical ability to perform heavy lifting and carrying; reaching, kneeling, crawling, climbing; standing for moderate periods of time. Must be able to lift, pull, push up to 100 lbs.

Vision: See in the normal visual range with or without correction; vision sufficient to read computer screens and printed documents.

Hearing: Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction.

Other: Ability to work overtime or occasionally on weekends with short notice.
