High School - Full-time School Counselor for the 2025-26 Academic Year
PURPOSE STATEMENT:

The School Counselor will demonstrate leadership, advocacy, and collaboration to assist students in identifying and achieving academic, career, personal, and social-emotional goals. The School Counselor promotes and supports the educational process in a faith-based community by helping students explore their abilities, strengths, interests, and talents, while planning post-high school plans.
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE/SKILL REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:
Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with endorsement in School Counseling REQUIRED; school counseling experience; individual initiative and professional collaboration/teamwork; excellent interpersonal relations and written and oral communication skills; knowledge of school-related software, Microsoft Office, and Google Applications.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Assists and counsels all students, individually or in groups, with developing academic, career and personal/social skills, goals, and plans.
Assists in planning a four-year academic program that includes, but is not limited to, the selection of courses appropriate to the students’ needs, interests, social-emotional functioning, academic achievement, and post high school plans.
Through lessons and/or programming, communicates the goals of the school counseling program to educational stakeholders (i.e., students, parents/guardians, administrators, staff, etc.).
Monitors, interprets, and utilizes student data to promote academic achievement of students, including the identification of strengths and needs for program development and individualized interventions.
Collaborates and communicates with teachers, support staff, administrators, parents/guardians, and outside agencies to assist students with academic, social/emotional, and career planning.
Implements academic and social-emotional interventions, in addition to developing career plans, in collaboration with team members.
Connects students to sources of information about careers and promotes career-related programs offered through ICCP.
Collaborates and consults with students regarding students post high school needs and plans.
Provides individual and group counseling to students with identified concerns and needs.
Participates on the crisis intervention team and makes referrals to appropriate professionals.
Writes letters of recommendations for students.
Facilitates the preparation of reports for team meetings, Special Education meetings, 504 plan meetings. Works with the Dean of Students on disciplinary referrals when necessary.
Attend and present at various evening counseling programs for parents and students.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
The School Counselor position is a full-time position, 10 ½ month position with several evening requirements.
Salary Position. Based on experience and education.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
IC Catholic Prep (“ICCP”) is a private, Roman Catholic high school in Elmhurst, IL, which has been transforming the lives of young men and women and their communities since 1936. Situated in the Diocese of Joliet, ICCP is the oldest Catholic, coeducational high school in DuPage County, Illinois and the only high school in DuPage that is part of a parish community, Immaculate Conception Parish. In January 2013, the name of the school was changed from Immaculate Conception High School to reflect the school's pursuit and teaching of Catholic values.
The School has a diverse student population, with close to 300 young men and women who reside in more than 40+ surrounding communities. More than 80% of the student body is Catholic, with other families recognizing the benefit of a religious based educational program.
