Job Title: Outpatient Group and Individual Counselor/Therapist - IOP and PHP

Location: Gaithersburg, MD

Work Environment: Adult Mental Health and Substance Use Disorder IOP/PHP/OP Outpatient Facility

Schedule: Full Time, Part Time, Contract

Expected Hours: 20 – 35 per week

Compensation: $35.00 - $65.00 Per Hour (commensurate with licensure, experience, and skills)

About The Role

Revive Life, a mental health and substance abuse treatment center, is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Group and Individual Counselor to join our team. This candidate will receive supervised training to be promoted to Clinical Director for our center. The Outpatient Counselor is responsible for providing clinical support to clients in an outpatient setting with Partial Hospitalization (PHP), Intensive Outpatient (IOP) and Outpatient (OP) programs. This role involves conducting group therapy sessions, individual and family therapy (as needed), and clinical assessments. The group counselor collaborates with the medical and clinical team to create a safe, stable, and therapeutic environment for clients needing support after they leave a residential or similar inpatient program. Primary Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for leading therapeutic group sessions and providing support to individuals dealing with various challenges.
  • Facilitate evidence-based group and individual therapy sessions for clients with substance use and co-occurring mental health disorders.
  • Conduct clinical assessments and develop individualized treatment plans in collaboration with the treatment team.
  • Compose individualized group notes for each client and document in EMR.
  • Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in compliance with regulatory and billing standards including COMAR standards and time frames
  • Participate in utilization reviews and medical necessity discussions with insurance providers as needed.
  • Work collaboratively with the medical, psychiatric, and clinical team to ensure integrated care.
  • Ensure effective discharge planning for a seamless transition to appropriate levels of care or community resources upon discharge
  • Provide education and psychoeducation to clients and families on addiction, recovery, and mental health.
  • Uphold ethical and professional standards in all client interactions and treatment approaches.
  • Participate in program development, team meetings, and performance improvement initiatives.
  • Assist with community and marketing events, as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Candidates applying for this position should be aware that an offer for employment in this position is contingent upon passing a comprehensive background check, encompassing criminal records and motor vehicle reports.
  • A master's degree in behavioral health science (Clinical Social Work, Psychology, Marriage and Family Therapy, or related field) is Required
  • Must be a licensed clinician with an active license in the state of Maryland in good standing is required - LCSW-C / LCSW / LMFT/LMSW
  • An ideal candidate has a minimum of 2 years of experience. Experience with clients from a partial hospitalization ("PHP"), and/or intensive outpatient ("IOP) setting, or experience facilitating group therapy sessions is highly desired.
  • Must have knowledge and ability to use counseling techniques to educate, elicit feelings, facilitate self-understanding, and motivate the client.
  • Must have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to establish rapport with participants.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Candidates must demonstrate a proven ability to manage diverse caseloads while maintaining a high standard of care.
