Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Counselor to join our team. The ideal candidate will provide support and guidance to individuals facing various mental health challenges, including addiction, PTSD, and crisis situations. This role requires a strong understanding of therapeutic techniques and the ability to create a safe and supportive environment for clients. The Counselor will work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care.

Duties

  • Conduct assessments and diagnostic evaluations to determine client needs and develop appropriate treatment plans.
  • Provide individual and group psychotherapy using evidence-based approaches such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Motivational Interviewing.
  • Offer crisis intervention services to clients in acute distress, ensuring their safety and well-being.
  • Document all client interactions, treatment plans, and progress notes accurately in compliance with medical documentation standards.
  • Collaborate with social workers, medical staff, and other professionals to coordinate care for clients in a hospital or outpatient setting.
  • Educate clients about addiction medicine and coping strategies for managing symptoms related to PTSD and other mental health issues.
  • Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical guidelines while providing support to clients.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field.
  • Valid licensure as a Counselor or Clinical Social Worker is preferred.
  • Experience in addiction medicine or PTSD care is highly desirable.
  • Strong skills in crisis intervention and the ability to manage high-stress situations effectively.
  • Proficient in medical documentation practices and familiarity with hospital settings.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to build rapport with clients from diverse backgrounds.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying current with best practices in psychotherapy.
