Position Overview: This position is designed for graduate students pursuing a Clinical Mental Health Counseling degree accredited by CACREP. You will have a unique experience as you will, be under the direct supervision of a Doctoral Level Licensed Professional Counselor and Counselor Educator. No Social Work students can be accepted as there is no LCSW supervisor available.
Key Responsibilities:
- Client Counseling: Conduct individual, group, or family counseling sessions under the direct supervision of a licensed counselor. Assist clients in addressing personal, social, educational, and vocational issues.
- Time Commitment: Total of 100 + clock hours over a full academic term that is a minimum of 10 weeks. Practicum students will complete at least 40 clock hours of direct service with clients and 60 hours of indirect hours which include administrative task related to documentation, professional development, treatment planning and supervision.
- Assessment and Diagnosis: Administer and interpret assessments to aid in the diagnosis and treatment planning process. Develop treatment plans in collaboration with supervising counselor and clients.
- Case Management: Maintain accurate and confidential client records, including progress notes, treatment plans, and any other necessary documentation. Coordinate services with other professionals as needed.
- Professional Development: Participate in supervision sessions with a licensed counselor to discuss cases, receive feedback, and enhance clinical skills. Attend relevant training sessions, workshops, and seminars to further professional growth.
- Ethical and Legal Compliance: Adhere to ethical standards and guidelines set forth by CACREP, ACA (American Counseling Association), and relevant state laws and regulations. Uphold client confidentiality and informed consent principles.
- Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with other members of the counseling team, including counselors, psychologists, social workers, and psychiatrists, to provide comprehensive care to clients. Communicate effectively with clients, families, and external stakeholders.
Qualifications:
- Enrollment in a graduate program accredited by CACREP, pursuing a degree in counseling.
- Completion of required prerequisite coursework. This requirement will not be waived. The courses include:

- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to establish rapport with diverse populations.
- Knowledge of counseling theories, techniques, and best clinical practices.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical guidelines per the ACA code of ethics.
- Reliable transportation to and from the counseling site.
