Job Summary

Under the clinical direction of the Chief of Psychiatry, provides primary services to agency clients/patients. Maintains required records and documentation. Provides consultation to other Center staff as requested.

Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provides routine evaluations and follow up care for agency clients/patients.
  • Utilizes evidenced-based nursing practice or physician assistant practice appropriate to the setting.
  • Identifies professional learning curve and routinely engages in formal and/or informal clinical supervision appropriate to needs.
  • Maintains medical charts, records and documentation in accordance with standard nursing practice and agency policies.
  • Completes clinical work tasks during work hours each day.
  • Provides assistance and direction to agency staff in establishing treatment/service plans, as needed. Knows and utilizes system resources. Identifies system limitations and problem solves to meet client needs
  • Maintains professional composure under stress.
  • Manages conflict at all levels.
  • Manages conflicting demands.
  • Delegates appropriately.
  • Adheres to established policies and procedures.
  • Consults with internal and external sources.

  • Clinical Care: Demonstrates the ability to provide effective and anticipatory guidance to patients in order to establish a health maintenance and management plan designed to promote health and prevent potential health problems. Ability to work in a dynamic environment, across all levels of the clinical team to coordinate treatment plans. Demonstrates knowledge of and ability in carrying out the nursing process.

Identify appropriate learning model for each recipient to ensure appropriate delivery. Ability to assess level of understanding and adjust accordingly to ensure patient comprehension.
  • Communication: Expresses thoughts clearly, concisely, and effectively both verbally and in writing. Presents in a confident, clear, and enthusiastic manner when addressing people in a large or small group. Demonstrates a sound knowledge of the subject matter.

Job Qualifications

Nurse Practitioner Qualifications:

  • Must have a Master's or Doctoral degree in Nursing and valid Ohio license
  • Must have a current, full, active, and unrestricted license, or otherwise recognized, as an Adult Nurse Practitioner
  • Must have current, full, active certification as a Nurse Practitioner from the American Nurses Association or another nationally recognized certifying body. [The certification must be in thespecialty to which the individual is being appointed or selected.]
  • Must be able to obtain a valid Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) license
  • Must work within a Standard Care Arrangement.
  • May be required to travel between sites as necessary
  • 3 years' experience as a PMHNP

Physical Demands/Work Environment

This job operates in a professional Clinical environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to speak and hear. The employee is frequently required to sit for extended periods of time, stand, walk, use hands and fingers, and reach with hands and arms. Travel and work outside of normal hours may be required for meetings, presentations, trainings and other events.
