About Job

Job Description:

  • Provide therapeutic art interventions to a caseload of 30 students with diverse learning needs, including autism, developmental delays, emotional disabilities, and other challenges.
  • Write and maintain Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), ensuring clear, measurable goals are outlined for each student and updated regularly.
  • Document confidential case notes, including therapy session summaries and updates on student progress, in accordance with privacy policies.
  • Maintain and preserve client-created art and art materials, ensuring proper handling and storage for future reference or therapeutic purposes.
  • Collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team, including co-treatment with occupational therapists, teachers, paraprofessionals, speech-language pathologists, counselors, and others, to create a comprehensive and cohesive support plan for each student.
  • Address the unique needs of students from diverse backgrounds and manage complex emotional and behavioral challenges, including trauma, in a sensitive, trauma-informed manner.
  • Facilitate group therapy sessions, promoting peer support and collective emotional growth through art-based activities.
  • Foster an environment where students can safely explore and express their emotions, enhancing self-esteem, emotional regulation, and coping skills.
  • Regularly assess student progress and adapt therapeutic techniques and interventions as necessary.
  • Participate in IEP meetings to discuss student progress, goals, and future therapeutic needs.
  • Ensure all documentation is accurate, complete, and up-to-date to support students' educational and therapeutic needs.

Qualifications:

  • Registered Art Therapist (ATR) license.
  • Open to applicants still in the certification process.
  • Counseling degree preferred, but not required.

Preferred Skills:

  • Knowledge of special education laws and IEP processes.
  • Experience with a range of therapeutic techniques in art therapy.
  • Familiarity with different disabilities and their impact on behavior and learning.
  • Experience in an educational or school-based setting.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $48,000.00 - $50,000.00 per year
