About Job

The Night Counselor is responsible for overseeing nighttime operations and providing support to clients during late hours. Reporting to the Executive Director of Administration (EDA), this role involves managing night-shift staff, ensuring client safety, and delivering crisis intervention as needed.

Detailed Duty Statement:

· Supervise night-shift staff, including counselors and support personnel, to ensure compliance with procedures and guidelines.

· Deliver counseling and crisis intervention services to clients during nighttime hours.

· Conduct regular facility checks and monitoring to maintain a safe and secure client environment.

· Collaborate with the care team to address emergent client needs and contribute to treatment planning.

· Document all client interactions, incidents, and interventions accurately and promptly.

· Lead overnight staff meetings to review client updates, shift reports, and nighttime incidents.

· Coordinate with the EDA to implement nighttime routines, safety protocols, and facility maintenance.

· Participate in staff training and support initiatives to uphold high standards of care during night shifts.

· Serve as the primary contact for external emergencies or incidents during nighttime operations.

· Ensure compliance with safety regulations and cleanliness standards within the facility.

· And other duties as assigned.

Qualifications Needed:

· Registration or Certification as a Substance Use Disorder (SUD) Counselor in California is required.

· Preferred: Some college coursework in a related field (not required).

· Minimum of two years of experience in counseling or mental health settings, focusing on substance use disorder treatment.

· Strong leadership skills and the ability to supervise staff effectively during nighttime hours.

· Proficiency in crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques to manage unpredictable situations.

· Excellent documentation and reporting abilities to maintain accurate client records.

· Ability to work independently and make informed decisions under pressure.

· Cultural competence and sensitivity to the diverse needs of clients.

· Flexibility to work night shifts and weekends as needed.

The Night Counselor provides the opportunity to oversee nighttime operations, deliver direct support to clients, and contribute to the safety and well-being of individuals undergoing substance use disorder treatment. This position reports to the Executive Director and works closely with the rest of the treatment team to ensure a high standard of care for all clients.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $27.00 - $29.00 per hour
