Purpose of Position - Lockhart/Bastrop areas

Provide counseling using evidenced-based therapeutic interventions for at-risk youth and their families; provide curriculum-based skills training for parents and youth; crisis intervention; any ancillary services; and emergency care services.

Essential Job Functions

· Ensure the effective and efficient operation of the agency’s counseling program.

· Ensure all paperwork is completed in a timely manner, as per program contract and/or policy and procedure.

· Ensure that all case file documentation and reports are completed within established time frames.

· Review all students’ records and files to ensure compliance with established program and agency policies and procedures.

· Provide group, family and individual counseling to clients as scheduled and assigned.

· Act as liaison with other community agencies and providers.

· Assist in, and maintain, adequate census in counseling program.

· Assist in securing community resources for counseling program components.

· Act cooperatively with all agency staff and clients.

· Develop, establish and participate in local advisory boards.

· Have a reliable form of transportation, as position requires extensive travel.

· Preparation of case histories/assessments/screening and referrals/case notes/action plans/updates/follow-ups and other case file documentation per program standards.

· Must be able to accept supervision; program services; follow procedures; and accurately and efficiently update record keeping systems. Must be adaptable to change.

· Audit MAR’s and report findings to Residential Service Administrator (RSA).

· Complete entire Service Plans for all residential youth.

· Set psychological and psychiatric appointments for each youth.

· Work with STAR Program Director on supervising STAR volunteer counseling student interns and providing orientation, on-the-job training, clinical and administrative supervision (as applicable), and professional development, are evaluated regularly, and are monitored for agency and program compliance and program effectiveness.

· Assume other duties and responsibilities designated by the Program Director and/or Program Services Administrator.

Working Conditions

· Salary: Salary commensurate with formal preparation, experience and agency’s funding status. Fringe benefits outlined in the organization’s personnel handbook.

· Hours: Position is dependent upon state funding the agency’s STAR program. Position is non-exempt from federal wage and hour guidelines; position requires flexibility. Must be willing to work evenings and weekends as needed.

· On-Call Duty: Position does require being on-call.

· Office Base: Determined at time of employment.

· Supervision: Responsible to the Program Director.

Knowledge and Attitude

· Knowledge of counseling techniques and area resources is necessary.

· Knowledge of Texas Department of Family and Protective Services’ minimum standards for emergency shelters and consolidated minimum standards for twenty-four (24) hour basic care facilities.

· Knowledge of the State’s Runaway and At-Risk Youth Program (STAR).

· Must be able to prepare reports on program activities to inform management of program accomplishments, issues and problems.

Education and Experience

· Licensed as one (1) of the following: Licensed Master Social Work (LMSW); Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW); Licensed Professional Counselor; Licensed Professional Counselor - Associate; Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT); Licensed Psychological Associate or Psychologist.

· Contingent on positive work performance.

· Bilingual required.

Pay: $47,500.00 - $48,500.00 per year
