ABOUT: CISC is a non-profit organization, founded in 1972, that supports immigrants and their families by creating opportunities for them to succeed, while honoring their heritage. We provide youth, family, and senior services including preschool, after-school, ESL/naturalization, in-home care case management, and healthcare navigation programs. We serve immigrants who speak Cantonese, Mandarin, Russian, Vietnamese, Spanish and additional languages at our office locations and numerous community-based sites throughout King County, Washington.

The Community Liaison (Early Intervention) Provides outreach and partners with families to increase interest in and access to developmental screening and referrals for young children. To provide culturally and linguistically responsive services to support immigrant children’s development. To help families whose child is identified as having a developmental delay navigate the process and follow up with them to ensure that they have accessed the services they need and to help resolve cultural misunderstandings between immigrant families and mainstream providers. To provide community education to promote information about early childhood development and destigmatize developmental differences.
JOB DUTIES:
- Outreach to Vietnamese immigrant community to provide information on developmental screening.
- Initiate collaborative partnerships with parents /caregivers to establish mutual trust and empower parents to notice, address, and celebrate their child’s attainment of milestones.
- Implement culturally relevant and linguistically appropriate developmental screening to children who are under age five.
- Provide comprehensive community resource and information to families, individualizing to respond to the family’s needs and concerns. Refer families to community agencies/programs; assist with navigation of the early intervention or special education system, provide support and advocacy.
- Assist with the establishment and maintenance of ongoing collaborative relationships with community organizations responsive to the concerns of the families of children birth through age 5.
- Provide culturally relevant information and resources on child development and developmental screening to immigrant communities via social media.
- Participate in evaluation work.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Experienced in working with immigrant families and young children.
- Understanding of issues specific to Vietnamese immigrant communities, especially related to early childhood and families.
- Skilled at relationship building with individuals, and families while maintaining appropriate boundaries, respecting family choices, and having cultural competency.
- Basic knowledge of child development and interest in working with children and families.
- Valid Washington driver’s license, own car and auto insurance required.
- Bilingual ability in English and Vietnamese.
- Employees must reside in Washington state and be within a reasonable distance to their King County worksite to respond to workplace reporting requirements.
