About Job

About Us

Modern Era Counseling is a thriving therapy and psychiatry practice based in Charlotte, NC. We help young adults navigate the complexities of modern life—burnout, identity, relationships, anxiety, disconnection—by offering care that’s affirming, emotionally resonant, and never clinical or cold.

Our vibe? Think stylish but grounded, intellectually curious but deeply human. We believe therapy should feel like a real conversation, not a scripted exercise. And that healing is relational, not transactional.

The Role

Officially, you’ll be joining as a licensed therapist or psychologist providing individual and/or group therapy to clients ages 15+. Unofficially? You’ll be part of a bold, quirky, and collaborative team that believes therapy should be both artful and effective.

This is a full-time in-person role (20+ clinical hours/week) based at one of our Charlotte offices, with hybrid options.

Note: While the position is structured for full-time, all new clinicians start part-time as we build your caseload together. Thanks to our steady referral stream, this typically ramps up quickly.

This Is for You If You…

  • Are a fully licensed therapist (LCMHC, LMFT, or LP) in North Carolina
  • Are passionate about the craft of therapy—and know there’s always more to learn
  • Find joy in helping people live more honest, connected, and intentional lives
  • Want to be part of a team that actually likes working together
  • Have solid time management skills (or at least a color-coded calendar)
  • Value equity, humility, curiosity, and real-deal human connection
  • Love working with young adults (20s–early 40s) navigating the big questions
  • Can flex your schedule to include some evening availability

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Providing individual (and optionally group) therapy to Modern Era clients
  • Building a caseload with support from our robust referral stream
  • Collaborating with other clinicians, including MEC's psychiatric team
  • Contributing to a culture where authenticity, creativity, and growth are celebrated
  • Participating in team meetings, consult groups, and professional development
  • Deepening your clinical identity in a space that values reflection and autonomy

  • Alignment with our values and clinical culture

Nice-to-Haves:

  • Fully licensed for 3+ years
  • Previously credentialed with BCBS and/or Aetna

Diversity, Inclusion & Belonging

We believe therapy should be a space where all people feel seen, safe, and supported—and that starts with who’s in the room. We’re actively building a team that reflects the diversity of the clients we serve across race, gender, sexuality, class, faith, age, and lived experience. If you’re passionate about justice, equity, and inclusive care, you’ll fit right in.
