10-Month School-Based Position with Opportunity for Summer Work
ACES is actively hiring Behavior Technicians and Registered Behavior Technicians (RBTs) to support students in public school districts across Hamden, Shelton, and other areas of Greater New Haven. This 10-month position aligns with the academic school year, with the potential for continued work through the summer.
As a Behavior Technician with ACES, you will work closely with students, school teams, and Board Certified Behavior Analysts to support the educational and behavioral success of children in a variety of school settings. You may work one-on-one with a student or support an entire classroom or school environment. Your role is essential in fostering a safe, structured, and positive learning atmosphere.

Primary Responsibilities:
Support students and classrooms in managing behavior and promoting engagement
Implement behavior support strategies as directed by Behavior Analysts and school staff
Collect and document behavior data accurately and consistently
Participate in team meetings, training, and professional development
Assist with arrival and departure routines, transitions, and transportation when needed
Contribute to maintaining a safe, clean, and supportive school environment
Serve on designated crisis intervention teams
Act as a behavioral resource for school staff
Qualifications:
Ability to maintain a strong work ethic and excellent attendance
Understanding of behavioral principles and ability to apply ABA-based strategies
Strong interpersonal and communication skills with students, families, and colleagues
Commitment to continuous learning and professional development
Ability to support students during behavioral or crisis events, including physical movement when needed
Current or eligibility for Registered Behavior Technician certification preferred
Must maintain a valid Connecticut “V” endorsement (if providing transportation support)
Work Environment and Physical Requirements:
This position may require periods of standing, walking, or running, as well as physical movement to support students in crisis situations. Applicants must have the physical capability to perform safety holds and escorts as trained and must be able to respond to auditory safety cues.

High School graduate with two years related experience
Bachelor’s Degree in related field preferred
Eligible for “V” endorsement for CT license (without restriction).
Completes RBT certification from the BACB within six months of hire date
Completes all components of ACES Safety Management Training within six-months of hire
