Position Summary Information
Primary Purpose
A licensed professional with a doctorate in a psychology-related field responsible for providing mental health services that reduce barriers and create opportunities for greater academic achievement and student success. The Staff Psychologist II works collaboratively with other departments in the Division of Student Life as well as academic affairs and other campus units.
This position primary setting will be in Sacramento clinic, but may be required to travel to Stockton and San Francisco clinics under certain circumstances.

Work Environment/Work Week/Travel
Work is primarily performed in clinical or office environment, with some outreach performed outdoors or on other campuses. Work is generally performed during standard business hours. May be required to work non-business hours. Moderate travel.
Valid driver’s license required. Incumbent must also be able to meet the University’s fleet rules and be eligible to drive for University business. The University and its insurance carrier reserves the right to exclude applicants based on their driving record.
Hiring Range $98,000 - $100,000 per year. We consider factors such as, but not limited to, scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s qualifications, internal equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. Background Check Statement

Essential Functions
- Provides group, individual, and couples therapy, and psychoeducational workshops to a culturally diverse college student body in accordance with the university statement on diversity and inclusion.
- Provides preventative outreach/programming/trainings and represents CAPS at campus events such as orientation, critical incident debriefing, workshops, and other situations on an as needed basis.
- Provides primary or delegated clinical supervision for unlicensed trainees.
- Provides same-day, walk-in, and crisis intervention services to students presenting with urgent mental health concerns, including risk assessment, safety planning, and stabilization, in alignment with university protocols and ethical standards of care.
- Consults with faculty, staff, and students regarding student concerns and participates in university-wide committees.
- Participates in staff, multidisciplinary team, and Student Life Divisional meetings.
- Keeps accurate and timely electronic records on all contacts with clients.
- Maintains compliance with ethical standards in the execution of services in accordance with the American Psychological Association, university policies, local, state and federal rules and regulations.
- Attends professional development opportunities and maintains licensure status with the appropriate California board.
- Provides Mandated Substance Abuse Assessments in coordination with Student Conduct and Community Standards on an as needed basis.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Doctoral degree in clinical or counseling psychology (Ph.D, Psy.D)
- Current valid license to practice psychology as an independent practitioner in the State of California and able to practice under Business and Professional Code Section 2946
- Two (2) years of experience working with adolescents or adults.
- Experience in providing clinical supervision.
- Ability to work well with a diverse client population.
- Demonstrated skills in culturally competent approaches to multiple modalities of therapy (e.g., group, individual, couples, crisis interventions, consultation, and workshops).
- Ability to teach in an informal workshop setting.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills as demonstrated through the ability to establish and maintain effective working with other departments within the university.
- Positive attitude, proven ability to work successfully with diverse populations, and demonstrated commitment to promote and enhance diversity and inclusion.
- Experience and sensitivity in working with people of diverse backgrounds and cultures.
- Demonstrated experience in advancing social justice, equity, and inclusion in a university setting.
- Ability to engage and integrate culturally responsive practices and knowledge in their work.
