General Information

POSITION TITLE: Qualified Behavioral Health Specialist (QBHS)/Behavior Technician (BT) –
Community Based Services

REPORTS TO: Community Program Administrator; other managers as directed

POSITIONS SUPERVISED: None

FLSA STATUS: Non-exempt

PURPOSE: The QBHS/BT position is a multi-faceted position due to the variety of services that may be provided by this staff member depending on their specific caseload including mental health treatment and support services, therapeutic behavior intervention services, psychosocial rehabilitation, intensive intervention services, and education services. Services may address the individualized mental health and/or educational needs of the client as determined by the client’s daily/weekly/monthly service schedule.This position may be assigned to work in a school, community, client home, and/or other locations as directed.

EDUCATION REQUIRED: High school diploma or equivalent and 21 years of age (if serving children/adolescents) required; High school diploma or equivalent and at least 21 years of age (if serving children/adolescents) with 3 years or more of related experience, or a bachelor's degree or master’s degree in social work, psychology, nursing, or in a related human services preferred.
Knowledge and application of the principles and procedures of Applied Behavior Analysis or prior experience with Applied Behavior Analysis or with special needs children preferred. Must complete agency QBHS training upon hire.

PRODUCTIVITY REQUIREMENT: 1,200 hours per year (12 months)

Specific Duties, Competencies, Responsibilities, and Behaviors
QBHS-Specific

1. Complete agency QBHS training upon hire and complete ongoing QBHS/BT supervision, training, and education development

2. Demonstrate accurate implementation of skills as taught in initial and ongoing training sessions and based on the feedback provided by supervisors; Refer to the client’s Individual Treatment
Plan/Individual Service Plan (ITP/ISP) when providing mental health services

3. Provide CPST mental health services as needed by implementing specific, measurable, and individualized services to each person served focusing on the individual's ability to succeed in the community, to identify and access needed services, and to show improvement in school, work and family and integration and contributions within the community following current regulations and designated policy and procedure

4. Provide TBS mental health services as needed by implementing activities intended to provide individualized supports or care coordination of healthcare, behavioral healthcare, and non-healthcare services that may involve collateral contacts and may be delivered in all settings that meet the needs of the individual following current regulations and designated policy and procedure

5. Provide complete and detailed documentation of treatment(s) provided to a client as required by law to include but not limited to: 1) progress or lack of progress toward treatment goals identified on the client’s ISP/ITP, 2) the continuing need for services, 3) all other required fields (e.g. service date, client name, beginning and end time of service, etc.), and 4) signature and designated mental health credentials

6. Maintain designated client program books following current protocol including but not limited to updating and creating data sheets, keeping CIL information current such as entering intro and mastery dates, and completing and submitting Sd Comp form

7. Monitor and report progress on designated clients toward their ISP/ITP, IEP, and/or Treatment Plan objectives and goals to the supervisor

8. Co-treat and substitute treat as directed; work collaboratively within a treatment team

9. Collect and analyze performance and/or outcome data accurately

10. Run after children that have eloped from treatment area, get up and down from ground when needed

11. Participate in staff development, education and training

12. Attend video reviews given by supervisor and complete self-evaluations and video reviews as requested

13. Seek, receive and apply feedback appropriately and professionally

14. Meet productivity requirements

15. Model professional behavior and decorum such as treat staff and clients professionally; uses professional language when discussing

16. Prepare for sessions prior to session start time to make each treatment moment valuable

17. Prepare and maintains “mix and vary” boxes and associated materials including but not limited to promptly adding newly-mastered target materials

18. Conduct reinforcer assessments and delivers reinforcement following ABA principles and procedures

19. Conduct social skills sessions for individuals in need and as assigned by client’s case supervisor

20. Implement behavior plans as directed by supervisors

21. Identify and report to supervisors when interventions are needed for specific clients and client treatment and/or education programs

22. Substitute at any given time for other staff to work with clients potentially not on regular schedules
