Summary
The Family Peer Support Program provides direct peer support services to families with children who have medical, mental, or behavioral health challenges. Our Family Peer Support Specialists assist families who need to navigate the special education and mental health care service systems. Services can include education on caregiver and child rights and responsibilities and attending meetings – e.g., planning and placement team (PPT) meetings – with families. Working collaboratively with parents/caregivers, youths, schools, and other service providers, Family Peer Support Specialists empower families and help them participate fully in the development of their child’s care, so that they can advocate on their own. This position is a Hybrid position.
Position Overview – Fast Track Program
This position is part of FAVOR’s Fast Track Program, a specialized initiative designed to provide immediate support to families seeking information, guidance, and access to behavioral health resources. The primary goal is to empower parents and caregivers to self-advocate by equipping them with the tools and knowledge they need to navigate systems of care effectively.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Provide short-term support to families identified as candidates for FAVOR’s Fast Track Program.
- Offer guidance, resources, and information to help families self-advocate for their children with behavioral or mental health needs.
- Assist families in identifying their needs and developing self-advocacy strategies to access appropriate services and supports.
- Answer incoming calls, respond to family inquiries, and provide timely, compassionate assistance.
- Document all communications with families accurately in the case management system.
- Complete required reports and documentation in accordance with program and organizational guidelines.
- Collaborate with other team members and external partners to ensure families receive coordinated support as needed.
- Attend all required trainings
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of CTWRAP, local systems of care and community resources available to families
- Understanding of family directed and culturally competent family supports
- Experience with Microsoft office products, remote login and other related technology
- Ability to comprehend, evaluate, negotiate, and plan
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Data Entry
Requirements
- Reliable transportation, valid Driver’s License, and current automobile insurance

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: From $19.90 per hour
Expected hours: 30 per week
