QUALIFICATIONS:
- Valid Georgia Service Certificate in School Counseling (P-12).
- Master’s Degree or higher.
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent of Schools may find appropriate and acceptable.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Prompt and regular attendance.
- Assists with preparing and implementing a school based guidance plan that supports young children's social, emtional, and academic growth. This includes the following: 1) Individual and group counseling activities. 2) Classroom guidance activities
- Assists with the school administrator and other staff with a crisis intervention plan.
- Identifyies and addresses early signs of emotional or behavioral challenges and providing interventions as appropriate.
- Consults with parents/guardians, school faculty members, administrators, and community resource leaders concerning student needs.
- Completes required professional reports and administrative tasks.
- Keeps morning and afternoon duty free to be available for consulting with teachers, parents, and guardians.
- Attends professional staff development conferences, meetings, seminars, and activities as appropriate.
- Follows professional counseling ethics to include maintaining confidentiality of students.
- Assists in solving student problems.
- Assists teachers and administration in understanding student learning potential.
- Assists teachers and administrators with Response to Intervention (RTI). Performs such other tasks and assumes other responsibilities as assigned by the Principal or Superintendent of Schools.
Physical Requirements:
Able to perform routine physical activities that are required to fulfill job responsibilities including:
Medium Work: Exerting 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 10 pounds as needed to move objects.
Terms of Employment:
Salary shall be paid consistent on the System’s approved salary schedule. Length of work year and hours of employment shall be established by the system.
Evaluation:
Performance of this job will be evaluated by the Principal.
