Job Title: Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner


Job Summary:

CASES is a New York City agency at the forefront of the intersection between behavioral health and involvement in the criminal justice system. Our mission is to increase public safety through innovative services that reduce crime and incarceration, improve behavioral health, promote recovery and rehabilitation, and create community success opportunities. The Behavioral Health division consists of a continuum of services for justice-involved individuals with serious mental illness. The OnTrackNY team located in the Bronx is an innovative multidisciplinary program that serves a maximum of 40 adolescents and young adults diagnosed with first-episode psychosis. The team is person-centered and provides services in the office and out in the community.

The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner is responsible for the psychiatric care of all individuals on OnTrack. This role will work closely with the team to engage all individuals throughout treatment, from early engagement to discharge planning. The PNP is involved in developing an integrated treatment plan that is person-centered and involves shared decision-making with the participant.

Salary: The hourly salary range for the role is $87.91 - $93.40 per hour.

Shift Hours: This is a part-time position for a program that operates Monday - Friday 9am - 5pm. The 17.5 hours fall within these operating hours. Flexibility a plus for instances the team needs to start or end later that 9am or 5pm.

Location Address: 424 East 147th Street, Bronx NY 10455.

Workplace Flexibility: In-person (staff roles designated as fully in-person are eligible for in-person workplace differential pay).


What you will be doing:

  • Perform comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and mental health assessments.
  • Participate in the development of individualized treatment plans for participants, including prescribing medications and recommending therapies.
  • Provide psychotherapy, counseling and engagement.
  • Educate participants and their families about diagnoses, treatment options, and medication management.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records using electronic health records.
  • Participate in team meetings and case conferences.
  • Stay current with developments in psychiatric treatment and best practices.
  • Manage and monitor medication side effects to ensure the safety and tolerability of these medications.
  • Provide ongoing evaluation, assessment and crisis intervention.
  • Meet with participants and families in the community to enhance treatment outcomes.
  • Collaborate with other providers, emergency rooms, inpatient hospitals, and others, to coordinate care.
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Helps maintain a safe and clean environment, ensuring proper use and disposal of medical supplies/equipment as required, adheres to infection control protocols, and notifies their supervisor immediately of any potential safety hazard identified in the office/client-care environment.


What we are looking for:

  • Active, unencumbered license to practice as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) in New York State
  • Master’s or Doctoral degree in Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing from an accredited program
  • Board certification from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC)
  • Prescriptive authority and DEA registration
  • Experience in an outpatient mental health setting preferred
  • Strong knowledge of psychopharmacology, mental health disorders, and evidence-based practices
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a collaborative healthcare team
