Job Summary

Salary: Starting at $120000 / annually - depending on experience / education
Job Summary
The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner assesses, diagnoses, and treats individuals with psychiatric disorders using a full scope of therapeutic skills, including the prescription of medication and administration of psychotherapy. They participate in interdisciplinary treatment team meetings with the clinical director, and clinical and utilization review teams to coordinate care for individuals served. They also work collaboratively with families and funding agencies to guarantee the best possible care for the individuals served.
- Assesses, diagnoses, and treats individuals with psychiatric disorders using the full scope of therapeutic skills, including the prescription of medication and administration of psychotherapy
- Prescribes appropriate medications within standards of psychiatric care
- Collaborates with the Chief of Psychiatry in accordance with the Collaboration Agreement
- Collaborates with the Medical and Clinical Departments through participation in team meetings that review psychiatric illness, medical problems, psychotropic medication management, and other such topics relevant to direct patient care
- Manages a caseload for ongoing medication needs, including metabolic assessment, appropriate labs/studies, and contact with other physicians
- Completes charting requirements in accordance with standards
- Participates in quality improvement process, including chart review for compliance with medical record-keeping standards
- Contributes to the success of the clinic through other quality improvement initiatives
- Maintains professional working relationships with all staff, clients, and public
- Ensures smooth communication with other health professionals for effective clinic services to patients
- Knowledgeable of policies and procedures for safe work practices
- Demonstrates knowledge of legal issues, including patient confidentially and risk management in all aspects of patient care
- Provides staff training, consultation, and support in medication education and recordkeeping
- Provides psychiatric emergency intervention and management for program clients
- Maintains regular CEU’s
- Conducts groups as needed
- Serves on various committees and performs other duties as assigned
- Master's Degree in Nursing; valid PA APN license (Advanced Practice / Nurse Practitioner License); CNS (Clinical Nurse Specialist) in adult psychiatry / mental health with substance abuse experience; computer proficiency. Wellness and Recovery orientation.
- DEA Controlled Substances Registration Certificate
- Current CPR/BLS certification
- Experience in administration of health programs and staff supervision preferred
- Demonstrated experience with Electronic Medical Records
- Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
