POSITION: Student Accounts Counselor (Part-time)
DEPARTMENT: Student Accounts
REPORTS: Director of Student Accounts
WORK SCHEDULE: Fully on-campus
PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Provide quality front desk customer service while performing a variety of student accounts and financial aid functions including but not limited to taking payment, discussing payment plans, reviewing financial aid awards, and making attempts to collect past due balances; work in collaboration with the Office of Financial Aid and the Office of the Registrar and other related offices at the University; ensure that functions performed are in compliance with federal, state and University policies and procedures.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree in business, communication or finance or equivalent education, skills and experience including customer service required; related work experience preferred; experience in financial aid or student accounts in a post-secondary institution preferred and experience data entry and computer skills required; knowledge of financial aid programs and regulations; organization skills and ability to communicate effectively with students and parents in a high pressure environment; ability to work flexible hours.
DUTIES:
- Primary Duties including
- Provide quality customer service at the front desk;
- Thoroughly address inquiries from students, parents, faculty, and staff by way of telephone, email, and in person;
- Open and distribute mail;
- Data entry;
- Process transcript requests;
- Take payments and/or deposits from students, parents, and various departments on campus;
- Discuss payment options;
- Complete daily bank deposit;
- Assist with payment plan and employer reimbursement efforts as needed;
- Assist with all collection efforts including making phone calls and sending emails as needed;
- Assist with special projects.
- General Office duties including:
- Insure adherence to requirements of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act as it applies to students' accounts;
- Assist students and families with understanding University billing statements including charges, financial aid awards and payment options for balance due.
- Perform other related duties or special projects as required.
