Background:
Growing optometry clinic looking for an organized and compassionate Patient Care Coordinator for an immediate opening. If you're passionate about continuity of care and keeping a clinic humming with precision and empathy—this could be the role for you.

Full-time availability is preferred but we will accommodate part-time hours for the right applicant. Start time is between 6:45 - 9:00 am, end time between 3:30 - 5:30 pm M-F. Prior experience in a medical or optometry clinic strongly preferred. Bilingual English/Spanish is helpful but not required.

Job Purpose:
Provides not only exceptional front-line support to patients but also serve as a crucial communication link between our optometry team and other healthcare providers.

Duties:
* Welcomes patients and visitors, in person or on the telephone; answering or referring inquiries.

* Communicate with external medical providers, such as ophthalmologists and primary care teams, to exchange patient records, coordinate referrals, and confirm treatment plans.

* Process referrals, secure authorizations, and schedule follow-up visits.

* Comforts patients by anticipating patients' anxieties; answering patients' questions; maintaining the reception area.

* Verify insurance coverage, process payments, and handle billing-related questions.

* Maintain and update patient charts and medical records in electronic systems.

* Record and update financial data, manage patient charges and credit, and expedite insurance claims

* Protects patients' rights by maintaining confidentiality of personal and financial information.

* Provide patients with clear instructions before and after eye exams or procedures.

Skills/Qualifications:
* Knowledge of EHR systems, medical terminology, and insurance processes

* Excellent communication skills for both patient interaction and provider coordination

* Strong organizational and multitasking abilities with flexibility, excellent time management, and attention to detail

* Professional demeanor with a patient-centered approach
