About Job
The Supervising Psychiatric Social Worker I will be directed by the Chief of Social Work in Social Work Services at the Department of State Hospitals – Atascadero (ASH). The incumbent will be responsible for the following duties but not limited to:
- Provides supervision and oversight of assigned Clinical Social Workers and interns.
- Collaborates with Program Management and Chief of Social Work to evaluate Social Work staff performance and takes or recommends appropriate action.
- Assists in the implementation of Performance Improvement.
- Administers audit tools including entering data into data bases.
- Interprets and analyzes findings for reports.
- Proposes improvements in service delivery as a result of findings.
- Plans and implements necessary changes in service delivery.
- Provide coverage during the absence of the Chief of Social Work.
- Provides in-services and training to social work staff
- Provide orientation regarding social work duties and responsibilities to new Social Work staff.
- Provide individual and group treatment for observation and training purposes.
- Completes Clinical Social Work assessments and documentation.

BE TRANSFER ELIGIBLE: MUST meet the minimum qualifications of the classification per DPA Rule 250, have current employment with the State of California in the same classification with permanent or probationary status or in a classification that is substantially the same with permanent or probationary status, OR
3. BE REINSTATEMENT ELIGIBLE: Have obtained previous permanent employment with the State of California in the same classification or in a classification that is comparable.

Working Conditions
This position requires you to work within the Secured Treatment Area (STA).
This position is classified as hybrid. It has options of the following schedules:
- 5/8/40 with one day of telework per week
- 4/10/40 (no telework day)
- 9/8/80 with one day of telework on alternating week
