Overview: St. Mary’s Healthcare is seeking a dedicated Inpatient Psychiatrist to join our compassionate and experienced Behavioral Health team in Amsterdam, NY. Position Highlights: Full-time, hospital-based role with a structured schedule. 20-bed inpatient adult unit with multidisciplinary team support. Ability to collaborate with social workers, therapists, and nursing staff to ensure coordinated patient care. Low call burden and supportive leadership team. Opportunities to participate in quality improvement and teaching initiatives. Responsibilities: Conduct comprehensive psychiatric assessments and develop individualized treatment plans. Provide psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and crisis intervention. Manage and monitor psychopharmacological interventions. Provide psychological support and psychoeducation to patients and families. Ensure effective discharge planning and care transitions in collaboration with case management. Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and treatment reviews. Maintain accurate documentation and comply with regulatory and accreditation standards. Qualifications: Required Credentials - Board Certified/Board Eligible Psychiatrist licensed (or eligible for licensure) in the State of New York Preferred Experience – Prior experience with inpatient psychiatric populations preferred but not required. Education - Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) from an accredited institution Skills - Strong diagnostic skills, compassionate approach, and ability to work in a team environment. Compensation & Benefits: Base Salary Range - $285K – 325K (commensurate with experience).
