Job Summary:
The Mental Health Therapist (LPHA-Waived) is a key role within our mental health services agency and is the primary case carrying lead clinician responsible for the oversight, delivery, and/or facilitation of all clinical needs and supports for assigned clients.
The Mental Health Therapist (LPHA-Waived) is responsible for meeting and assisting clients, with professionalism, and managing appointments to reach productivity metrics. The role involves close collaboration with other staff and managers of related departments to effectively carry out our Family FSP modality and foster optimal outcomes for those we serve. The Mental Health Therapist (LPHA-Waived) will also be a critical bridge between agency and community partners, (e.g., Sacramento County Contracts Monitor, School Districts, Child Protective Services, Probation, Psychiatric and Medical Providers, the Sacramento County Access team, HUB sites and other mental health providers.
Working in concert with the Associate Director of Clinical Services, the Mental Health Therapist (LPHA-Waived) will adopt a continuous improvement strategy to ensure excellence in all aspects of service delivery. Minimum Qualifications:
· Must be registered with the Board of Behavioral Sciences – California
· Must have at least one year’s experience or equivalent in working with youth and families with significant mental health and/or behavioral needs.
· Must have stamina to manage the mental health and/or behavioral needs of clients with a wide range of mental health and behavioral health levels of intensity.
· Strong organizational and communication skills, ability to handle a fast-paced environment with effective time management skills to handle dynamically changing priorities.
· Familiarity with office equipment and software, including email (Microsoft Suite and 365), and electronic health records (EHR) applications, specifically SmartCare.
· Ability to handle sensitive information confidentially in compliance with all HIPAA regulations including accuracy in handling documents and records.
Typical Duties:
· Handling incoming and outgoing physical and electronic communications, including sending confirmation emails to clinicians. Provides diagnostic assessment for children, parents and care providers and formulates a diagnosis according to current D.S.M standards.
· Formulates a treatment plan according to diagnostic findings.
· Interprets assessment findings to parents or care providers and establishes treatment plans.
· Provides direct therapeutic interventions to children, parents or care providers including individual therapy, play therapy, family therapy, group therapy and conjoint therapy and other clinically appropriate modalities.
· Participates in milieu program and provides direct intervention around behavior management, modification, and intervention techniques.
· Functions as a child and parent advocate.
· Participates in and/or facilitates Child and Family Team (CFT) meetings, case planning meetings and presents evaluation material, treatment planning, progress, discharge, and aftercare plans.
· Maintains accurate and up-to-date clinical records in a timely manner as determined by the agency, county, and state regulations.
· Participates in other required meetings, trainings, and supervisory sessions.
· Case consultation collaboration, coordination of treatment and treatment plans with families and relevant community agencies. Excelling in conveying ideas and information verbally in a clear and engaging manner.
· Mental Health Therapist (LPHA-Waived) must attend required and agency supplied BBS supervision group and individual meeting sessions on a weekly basis according to BBS required supervision ratio.
· Mental Health Therapist (LPHA-Waived) must keep track of their supervision hours and acquire sign off according to the BBS Supervisor’s schedule but no less than monthly.
· Other duties as assigned.
Education/Certificates:
· Master’s degree in social work or psychology from an accredited graduate school.
· Registration with the Board of Behavioral Sciences – California.
Screening Requirement and Employment Conditions:
· Valid California Driver’s License
· Must successfully complete Tuberculosis (TB) testing to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations with clinic partners.
· Applicants are required to successfully complete a Live Scan background check as a condition of employment. This involves fingerprinting for the purpose of accessing criminal history records from the California Department of Justice and the Federal Bureau of Investigation to ensure the safety and wellbeing of our clients. The Live Scan process must be completed, and results returned as clear before any employment offer is finalized.

Work Environment:
While the primary duties are conducted within a business office setting, the position requires a flexible approach to provide support in various community settings including outreach, county meetings, child and family team meetings, family court, HUB sites, telehealth meetings and clients' homes to meet program needs effectively. The role requires the use of standard office equipment, encompassing computers, software applications, phones, printers, and other related technology. The environment is structured for collaborative and client-facing work, offering a blend of internal coordination and external engagement.

Pay: $80,000.00 - $83,000.00 per year
