Position Type: Part Time

Hourly Rate: $50.00

Department: Counseling and Psychological Services

Reports To: The Director of Counseling

Position Summary:

Manhattan University Counseling Center is accredited by the International Association of Counseling, Inc., (IACS), which evaluates counseling centers against a set of standards that include regulations about confidentiality, professional training and credentials of clinicians, outreach efforts, and responsiveness to student mental health needs.

The Counseling Center services are provided at no charge to help our students reach their educational goals and work through any personal issues that are causing anxiety or distress. Manhattan University is seeking a Part-time Staff Counselor to join our collaborative team. This is an in person on campus- non remote position.

Schedule: 4 days a week, 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM during academic year.

Responsibilities:

  • Individual and group psychotherapy, conducting assessments, crisis intervention.
  • Provide individual and group counseling.
  • Facilitate, participate in psycho-educational outreach programs.
  • Work collaboratively with the team.
  • Conduct intakes, and provide assessment, diagnosis and treatment for student psychological concerns.
  • Provide crisis intervention, including suicide risk evaluations.
  • Develop and keep accurate psychological client records.
  • Basic knowledge of computers and ability to work with office technology
  • Other assignments as designated by the Director of Counseling.

Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Mental Health Counseling or Social Work. NYS Licensure is preferred. Will consider Limited Permit.
  • Must possess strong verbal and written communication skills.
