BASIC FUNCTION:

The Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) provides support, coaching, assessment and consultative services to Abilities programs serving individuals who are presenting challenging behaviors. The Board Certified Behavior Analyst possesses the expertise to develop behavior support plans and recommendations in order to increase adaptive behaviors and skills.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Develop individual Behavior Support Plans/recommendations as needed.

2. Must be willing and qualified to supervise BCBA candidate’s independent field work for field experience hours, in addition to supervising BCaBA and RBT positions.

3. Supervise, train and monitor direct care staff in the implementation of all Behavior Support Plans/recommendations.

4. Coordinate behavior support plans with residential program staff and Support Coordinators, as necessary.

5. Attend meetings pertaining to behaviorally involved clients.

6. Provide and monitor all necessary documentation required by behavior support programs to include on-site observations, data collection, monitor staff skills to ensure competency, etc.

7. Performs necessary clinical documentation to maintain accurate and timely billing records to meet Abilities, state, federal, and accrediting agency requirements.

8. Will provide Abilities Behavior Support Committee with reports of their activities.

9. Provide/Attend consultations for all referrals with behavioral concerns.

10. Promote agency programs through public relations, public speaking or attendance at conferences.

11. Provide Positive Behavior Support training for all agency staff.

12. Perform other responsibilities as they relate to the effectiveness and efficiency of the agency at the request of the Director of Program Services.

13. Provide rationale for the need of behavioral acuity.

14. Assess for appropriateness of recipients of behavioral services.

15. Collaborate with Referral Review Team (RRT) on appropriateness of consumer referrals for day programs.

16. Will complete all mandatory trainings and professional development training hours per the direction of administration.

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Possess ability to supervise, train, and monitor all staff with regards to Service Recipients who are behaviorally involved

2. Ensure compliance with Department of Developmental Disability regulations pertaining to behavioral concerns (Division Circulars 18, 19, 20, and 34).

SKILLS:

1. Ability to support all levels of staff through leadership, delegation, collaboration, and training.

2. Demonstrate proficient to outstanding communication and comprehension skills.

3. Computer skills, i.e. proficient in Word, Excel

4. Ability to travel to agency sites and elsewhere as required by meetings.

5. Planning, organizational and problem solving skills.

6. Valid driver's license and driving record in good standing.

7. Must be certified in all crisis support techniques, First Aid, CPR, and other pertinent trainings.

8. Accept varied assignments.

9. Must demonstrate ability to diffuse, intervene and manage consumers with aggressive behaviors.

10. Must be able to develop effective behavior support plans and understand the different levels.

11. Ensure a safe and positive work environment for staff and consumers.

12. Must comply with Abilities attendance policy and report to work on a regular basis.

EDUCATION/LICENSES :

1. Master’s Degree in Human or Social Services or related field

2. Board Certification with training component

EXPERIENCE :

1. 2-4 years working with adults with developmental disabilities who present challenging behaviors.

2. Experience in day programs preferred

REQUIREMENTS:

1. Driver’s license valid in the state of New Jersey

2. A requirement that the employee cooperate with the licensee and Department of Human Services staff in any inspection, inquiry, or investigation

3. A requirement that the employee submit to a criminal background check, and be determined to be not disqualified by the Department of Human Services prior to working with individuals served

4. A requirement that the employee agree to have their name checked against the Central Registry of Offenders Against Individuals with Developmental Disabilities

5. All employees hired after 6/15/18 shall submit to drug testing prior to employment

6. All employees shall submit to drug testing conducted randomly and for cause

7. All employees shall complete an application to have their name checked against the Child Abuse Registry Information (CARI)

EXPOSURE CATEGORY :

Category 3 – Exposure to blood borne pathogens on a daily basis likely.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This position operates in a professional office environment. The office/center can change based on consumer need or demand. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and printers/scanners.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to speak and/or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The position may require long periods of standing while providing services. Provision of physical restraints may be required for consumer and staff safety. Physical restraints can be provided to people of different heights and weights.

TRAVEL:

Travel to Abilities locations will be required. Travel may also be required for certain training events as mandated by the state. You may be eligible for mileage reimbursement.

Pay: $55.00 - $65.00 per hour
