Employment Type: Part-Time / Hourly

Hours: 1:30 PM – 6:00 PM, Monday–Friday

Job Summary:

The Afterschool Care Counselor is responsible for supervising and engaging children in a safe, structured, and nurturing environment during afterschool hours. The counselor will lead age-appropriate activities, support homework completion, facilitate enrichment opportunities, and ensure the well-being of all participants.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise children in classrooms, playgrounds, or other designated areas.
  • Plan and facilitate recreational, enrichment, and academic activities.
  • Promote positive social interactions and model respectful behavior.
  • Provide homework assistance and academic support as needed.
  • Ensure the physical and emotional safety of all children.
  • Maintain accurate attendance and incident reports.
  • Communicate effectively with parents, school staff, and fellow team members.
  • Assist with setup and cleanup of activities and snacks.
  • Follow all school/program policies, including behavior management and emergency procedures.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED required; 45 DCF Hours Requiered
  • Previous experience working with children in an educational or recreational setting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Background check and fingerprint clearance required.

  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with other counselors and staff to deliver a cohesive program experience.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $13.00 per hour

Expected hours: 15 – 20 per week
