OVERVIEWWhile working at Sunshine Lady House for Wellness and Recovery, Residential Crisis Stabilization, the CSAC position completes multi-dimensional assessments and makes least restrictive level of care recommendations for those experiencing substance use challenges in conjunction with their mental health needs. Develops, implements, coordinates, and monitors individual treatment and service plans, provides supportive level counseling and advocacy for individuals with substance use disorders during their stay at Sunshine Lady House.Work is performed under general supervision and is guided by agency policies and procedures, quality assurance, public and private payor guidelines, diagnostic guidelines and professional practices and including ethical standards related to client interactions, state and federal licensure and accreditation regulations and guidelines.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Utilize ASAM criteria to recommend and refer individuals to the least restrictive level of care for continuation of treatment following stay at Sunshine Lady House.
  • Develops individualized treatment plans in collaboration with the individual, their families and other service providers at the Sunshine Lady House.
  • Prepares and maintains individual progress notes and related clinical records, crisis plans, group and individual notes.
  • Provides individual and group substance use skills restoration and psychoeducation to individuals and their families utilizing evidence-based interventions and modalities.
  • Facilitates discharge planning and coordination of care related to substance use support and mental health.
  • Works in conjunction with Sunshine Lady House Lead Specialist, Coordinator, Assistant Coordinator, and nursing team to coordinate substance use interventions and treatment from the point of intake to coordination of after care.
  • Provides individuals with referrals to community resources.
  • Identifies and communicates resource deficiencies for future planning.
  • Provides consultation and coordination of services with referring agencies.
  • Attends required meetings including agency and professional trainings, staff meetings, clinical and administrative supervisions.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIESThorough knowledge of substance use treatment principles, practices and techniques. Thorough knowledge of public and private resources, court services, substance abuse programs and service delivery systems in the local community and the eligibility criteria, intake processes, termination criteria and procedures; considerable knowledge of the nature and types of disorders, diagnosis, treatment modalities and interventions and related individual, group and family intervention applicable to the substance abusing/chemically dependent and mental illness population.Considerable knowledge of the principles and manifestations of substance use disorders on family, group dynamics, parenting and child development; considerable knowledge of clinical documentation and office practices; ability to conduct effective interviews, observe, assess and record individual behaviors and functioning and develop treatment plans; ability to identify needs and appropriate services; ability to establish and maintain rapport with individuals.Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with agency and facility staff and of other private and public facilities, agencies and organizations; ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing; ability to operate a vehicle; ability to function calmly in stressful situations; ability to prepare and maintain detailed records and prepare related reports; ability to collect, compile and evaluate electronically sourced or other data and prepare reports; ability to persistently negotiate with individuals and service providers.TYPICAL EDUCATION, TRAINING AND WORK EXPERIENCEBachelor's degree in human services field. One year experience with substance use and mental health population preferred.LICENSURE AND CERTIFICATIONSValid VA driver's license. Valid Virginia CSAC Certification eligibility required. Qualified Mental Health Professional-A (QMHP) required.RACSB maintains a drug-free workplace environment.
