The Division of Juvenile Justice is recruiting to fill a Juvenile Justice Counselor 3 position in Bethel at the Bethel Youth Facility Treatment Unit.
What You Will Be Doing
The Bethel Youth Facility (BYF) Treatment Unit provides culturally appropriate, strength based and trauma informed treatment to youth in a secure residential setting. The BYF Treatment Unit specializes in Neurobehavioral youth. Our residents have mild to severe mental health issues in addition to their justice system challenges.
The Juvenile Justice Counselor 3 leads Juvenile Justice Counselor 1/2’s in carrying out the Unit operations and supervising/caring for juveniles who are in Court ordered treatment. They perform as shift lead and are charged with ensuring that practices are consistent with Alaska Statutes, Alaska Administrative Code, Division of Juvenile Justice, and facility policies and procedures. They make sure that Performance-based Standards are implemented on the Unit and within the context of the Division`s restorative justice philosophy, ensuring the proper care and safety of residents, staff, and the community.

The Working Environment You Can Expect
This position is located at the Bethel Youth Facility, 950 State Highway in Bethel, Alaska. As a member of a unit security team on a 24-hour unit you will work shiftwork, holidays, weekends, and occasional overtime.
