School Counselor:

We are searching for a certified and creative school counselor to join the team at The School for Advanced Studies – Northwest Arkansas, now entering its second year!

The School for Advanced Studies – Northwest Arkansas is a tuition-free open-enrollment public charter Liberal Arts school providing an accelerated education to grades 5-12.

PERFORMANCE OUTCOMES:

The role of School Counselor leads the campus family engagement, coordinates support of mental, emotional and social health services and executes on counseling supports for all students on the campus. To achieve this, the school counselor will:

  • Assists in developing and implementing interim assessments to monitor students' progress toward proficiency on the state benchmark assessments.
  • Promotes effective utilization of school and community resources in program development and implementation.
  • Helps students to grow in positive self-awareness to reach his/her full potential.
  • Assists parents and school staff in understanding the developmental needs of all students and works with parents and staff in meeting the individual needs of students in the school environment.

Qualifications:

  • A master's degree in secondary counseling and certification by the Arkansas Department of Education
  • Arkansas certification in Guidance & Counseling K -12th grade
  • At least five (5) years' experience as a teacher and/or counselor
  • Evidence of experience in working with students struggling academically
  • Evidence of strong organizational skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Evidence of strong oral and written communication skills
  • Evidence of a strong commitment to quality desegregated education

Knowledge and Skills:

Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills

Ability to manage student behavior

Ability to adjust and adapt to a multitude of situations in the school environment

Additional Job Information:

Benefits and Salary: Starting Salary is $50,000 and is negotiable dependent on education and experience.
