POSITION SUMMARY
Join our dedicated team as a Behavioral Health Peer Support Specialist, where you will provide essential in-person and telephone-based support to patients as part of the Comprehensive Community Behavioral Health Center (CCBHC) Program.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
In this role, you will:
- Empower patients to articulate personal recovery goals through group and individual sessions.
- Engage in community outreach to connect patients and their families to vital services.
- Co-facilitate family network meetings when needed.
- Utilize Motivational Interviewing techniques to inspire patients in their treatment and recovery journeys.
- Collaborate as a key member of a multi-disciplinary treatment team.
- Educate and embody the significance of individual recovery experiences.
- Actively support patients in advocating for their access to services across multiple systems.
- Teach problem-solving strategies to individuals and groups, guided by the treatment team.
- Provide tailored peer support services according to identified clinical needs.
- Help patients identify their strengths and resources to achieve their treatment goals.
- Present and connect patients with community resources in vocational, recreational, social, educational, and spiritual areas.
- Assist in developing personalized wellness and recovery plans using established tools.
- Support the treatment team in monitoring recovery and treatment outcomes.
- Work closely with patients to facilitate self-directed steps towards recovery.
- Organize and facilitate peer support groups.
- Model effective coping skills for patients.
- Accompany patients to external meetings as needed.
- Document in clinical records as required by regulations.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
A High School Diploma or GED is required. Peer Certification is preferred, and willingness to become certified is essential. We prefer candidates with experience as a peer, whether paid or volunteer. Recommended certifications include: Certified Recovery Peer Advocate Certification (CRPA), Certified Recovery Peer Advocate Training (CRPA-P), OMH Peer Specialist Certified, or OASAS Peer Specialist Certified.
COMPENSATION:
This is a full-time position with a pay range of $20-21 per hour.
