As part of the multidisciplinary team, this position schedules, organizes, plans and leads milieu activities that meet the specific needs of patients and their families across a continuum of care. Responsibilities include: Planning and implementing therapeutic recreational and leisure activities, leisure activity assessment and education, and community re-integration.

Responsibilities include: Planning and implementing therapeutic recreational and leisure activities, leisure activity assessment and education, and community re-integration.
Responsibilities
- Provide safe and effective treatment to patients through the use of therapeutic activities and groups such as social skills, communication, self esteem, etc. Coordinates a planned, yet flexible of activities within a Monday- Friday ambulatory program. Identify daily activities that will be appropriate for level of care, based on information gathered from treatment planning meetings.
- Provide teaching, leadership, guidance and materials for activities led by others; participate in the development, review and revision of services and policies and programs; coordinate activities with Child Life department and schedule outside therapist for groups, i.e., dance, art, or music therapy as clinically appropriate; accurately and legibly document patient's participation in therapeutic activities/groups.
- Monitor and purchase supplies and equipment needed for activities and groups; monitor playground and activity room facilities for safety and report any unsafe environmental situations to the Engineering Department; assist Milieu Therapists in development of goals and home programs.
- Performs other duties and special projects as needed and as training and education allows.
How You’ll Be Successful:
- At least 2 years experience in child or adolescent psychiatry required
- Four-year Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required
- Certification as a Recreational Therapist (CTRS) upon hire required
- Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers from the American Heart Association required
- Requires experience in own professional discipline to appropriately apply own knowledge; broadens own professional expertise and acquires higher level skills
- Understands key business drivers; uses this understanding to accomplish own work
- No supervisory responsibilities but may provide informal guidance to new team members
- Solves problems in straightforward situations; analyzes possible solutions using professional/technical experience, judgment and precedents
- Impacts quality of own work and the work of others on the team; works within guidelines and policies
- Receives a moderate level of guidance and direction
- Explains complex information to others in straightforward situations
