Job Summary
Provides counseling, assessment, and treatment planning to inmate patients with substance use disorders
within the Salt Lake County Jail.
Minimum Qualifications
Must possess and maintain current licensure as a Certified Substance Use Disorder Counselor, Certified
Advanced Substance Use Disorder Counselor or Licensed Advanced Substance Use Disorder Counselor.
Due to the nature of this position, the successful applicant must pass a required pre-employment background
check.
Employees must successfully pass current “jail pass” requirement and annual complete all training
requirements.

Job Summary
Provides counseling, assessment, and treatment planning to inmate patients with substance use disorders
within the Salt Lake County Jail.

Essential Functions
- Conducts initial assessment and screening services
- Provide psycho-educational counseling for patients with substance use disorders.
- Completes intakes and additional assessments to inform treatment planning, goal setting, diagnoses, and
- Assures quality of care by adhering to evidence based practice, therapeutic standards, and standards of
requirements.
- Assists in resolving identified patient problems and needs by utilizing multidisciplinary team strategies.
- Maintains accurate and up to date documentation of all clinical encounters in the clinic’s electronic health
- Provides written and verbal communication with the courts, allied agencies, and case managers on
- Accurately document services using ASAM Dimensional Analysis format, including all required elements.
- Other duties as required.
